Btw I also wouldn't recommend to convert the sheets to a lower colour depth, since this can screw up the colours like:

This happened to me when I reduced the colour depth from 16 Mio. to 256 colours to erase a background colour from an indexed palette.
It was the Fiery Den in Trials of Mana (SNES), but suddenly the conversion went wrong and I was left with a different shade of red, something that I've never noticed before.

If you have problems with getting rid of background colours / transparency, I can recommend this neat little tool:

Quick guide
- Create a subfolder in a folder, throw your pics inside the subfolder and drag it into the tool.
- Every subfolder creates a new row on the sheet.
- Sheet appears in the same directory as the tool.

In this case, the folder is FF VI Tilesets while the subfolders inside the folder are called 01, 02, 03, etc.
You can determine the space between the frames with X Pad (horizontal space) and Y Pad (vertical space).
Fill Background / Fill Frames can get rid of background colours and transparency for you.
