You're the second person who pointed it. Three if you include myself. I thought it was too stretched out when I was ripping. So I changed the video configurations of the emulator, it was still the same. So I tried another emulator, no change. So yesterday, when Ryan914 pointed it to me I tried it on a notebook, again no change. And yesterday I tried with a third emulator on the regular PC, same thing. Then I picked up the GBA version to rip, and the sprites were the very same, down to the colors and the strange "stretch/wide".
So, yeah, I think they are like this XD Or should I try a fourth emulator? o_O
A 4th emulator buddy... I had a hunch so after downloading it, went to Meka, waited until the intro stopped and went to tile viewer to get Alis.

Mine is on the left and yours is on the right for good measure.
I think I know why it is stretched, you see the SMS is 256x192 for most games (except Micro Machines and a couple of others that use PAL mode) and many emulators (and possibly the real system) ensist that the display is 320x240 hence the stretching.
My advice since I ripped this system and the Game Gear is to use either Meka or go ROM digging using TileMolester...
