As for the relevance, the game can allow you to unlock extra content through finding precursor orbs, including the model viewers for all 3 games in the trilogy - naturally a chance to view in-game models for every notable character throughout their run. There's no voices for the first set (The Precursor Legacy); Jak 2 had rotating voiceclips added for when the player selects either Jak, Daxter, Vin, Krew or Praxis; and Jak 3 re-used Jak and Daxter's voices for the same thing and also had clips for Torn, Ashelin, Tess and Pecker.
