Should fighting games include a beat em up portion?

no, because there's a really big difference between balancing and creating different options for a single player to use against computer opponents (which it doesn't need to be "fair" against) vs balancing and creating different options for 2 human players to fight each other and each have a chance to win, especially when each player can choose from a wide range of asymmetrical options that must still be balanced against each other for use by human players to be as fair as possible

you'd have to change SO much in order to create a worthwhile beat 'em up from a worthwhile fighter (and vice versa) that it's not worth the effort at all whatsoever; it's just a really stupid idea

and i don't get why people want this, do you also think it's weird that a computer doesn't also come with a xbox??? why should a fighter come with a beat em up

I'm not saying it has to be packaged together Slouch I'm just saying Tobal 1 and 2 Ehrgeiz were good examples. It can be done, pretending it can't is like pretending every idea is just a copy of another idea, and that nothing is original. It's stupid and pessimistic to say that there is only one or the other. Especially about a topic in which one is only limited to imagination and funds.
