But on topic: The Sonic series does use a bunch of characters and are somtimes just revamped ideas of old characters. However, the Mario series is kinda is doing that too; mainly in Mario Kart. (Baby Luigi, Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Dry Bones, Toadette, Dry Bowser, etc...)

And Saying Sonic has too many Characters is like Saying there's too many Pokemon. They jusyt keep coming. Weter you like them or not. And comparing Sonic to Mario is dumb, They are barely alike.
