Whoa, GB's back? Yeah, long time no sprites. Well, speaking of no sprites, here are some.
These happen to be based off of a game that was a vivid part of my childhood, and I think some of your as well:

I was really trying for smoother movements in this style, and something besides the full black outline I'm always doing.
