deal with it like most mods deal with trolls;

- delete post
- warn over PM/warning system
- if warning is ignored, post deletion + ban

that way topics can continue to run smoothly. sure it's more work than just pressing the shiny little lock button but everyone's happier.

it's really not that difficult.

EDIT: that's another thing. it seems like all of the mods and admins forgot about the "delete post" button and just lock topics on the fly.
if this forum software is anything like the others, there are checkmarks near every post as well so you can easily checkmark posts and mass-delete them, keeping the "good" posts intact
