Megaman Mario Enemies

i dont see the connection between those two things and mario/megaman. are these suposed to be goombas, koopas (whatever they're suposed to be) in megaman style, or the name is simply an excuse for them? i think some sort of explanation on what these are mean to be would help to actually understand what they are, if they are more than random sprites.
