Seperating beginners from the rest.
#62
I've just been skimming through the topic, but from what I've read this would be a complete waste of time.

The Beginners section will no doubt have members who think they're experts because they can change every sprite of sonic into a sprite of sonic with sunglasses and a coat. People will tell him he sucks, and we'll have another Razorthecurse incident. This would happen from time to time, and more frequently than not considering the recent boost in sonic editors.

Say xxXXSonic EditorXXxx joins the forum, and thinks he's good enough for the expert board, he obviously isn't, and he is told this multiple times by every member who posts in his topic, not counting the few alts he's made to back himself up and the few friends he's had join to continue backing him up. He's going to continue doing this until a mod finds a legitimate reason to ban him(and i'd just like to mention that with these guys, i don't think waiting for them to break the rules is really what you should be doing, when someone comes in and continually starts shitstorms in their topics, ignores advice, and acts like the biggest baddest artist around the forum, you should at least suspend him instead of keeping this mindset that UNTIL RULES ARE BROKEN, HE CAN'T BE BANNED!!!!1) or until he brings a bunch of friends to attempt to troll the forum. On top of that, you can't rule out the fact that alts being made by actual members will increase so that they can troll people in the beginners board with horrible sprites, just for a quick laugh.

And you can't ignore the fact that people here tend to have very biased opinions on spriters, there are members here that really shouldn't be part of the beginners board, granted they DO still suck, they shouldn't have to be grouped in with the piles and piles of edits and recolors of the exact same sonic sheet. But they will, and this will cause hurt feelings, and potentially lost members.

It's a broken idea, and really isn't worth the effort. Stop worrying about trying to separate the edits and recolors, and simply watch the behavior of these editors and recolor-ers. If they're getting pissy because someone's being a dick to them, suspend the person being a dick. If they're getting pissy because they're getting valid albeit, not sugarcoated advice instead of ass licks and ball nibbles, suspend them. You guys are on this mindset that until someone posts porn or harasses someone, they've done nothing to be suspended. Causing a shitstorm because you refuse to improve at all and want nothing more than to get the biggest baddest 2 second edit of a sonic sprite should be grounds for a suspension or ban.

It's a simple problem with a much simpler solution that you're considering.
