Need ripping help, PC game, trying ninja ripper (breaks models), .et files possible?
#1
Hello there!

I'm rather new but I have done a lot of research to get this far.  I'm really stuck right now and could use expertise.

Short summary: I am trying to grab models from a 32 bit game which uses directX 9.0c and I''m having problems. It's a steam game and was possibly ported from console but might have been released simultaneously on PC. The best would obviously be if the models could be extracted from the game directory itself of course.  The models are most likely in a folder called "Entity Templates" with a .ET extension and all named randomly like 1BC54B06219CEA7C.
There are also a "map" folder with .map files, a "Regions" folder with .rgn, and one file called 0000000100000001.gam that could potentially hold all the models. After research I don't know how to score the models from the files alone.

Ripping things I have tried and their failings:
• 3D Ripper DX: Fails to run game from steam directory even with -applaunch ****** parameter. Global System Monitoring only works for 32 bit OS. Unable to capture.
• 3D Via Printscreen: Acts like it is capturing after pressing the capture key but fails to save any files out.
• FileRipper in Game Modding Studio: scouring those files mentioned at least for common formats provided by FileRipper have failed to find anything.
• Ninja Ripper 1.5.1 (most successful): This has at least pulled t-pose models but they are completely cut up into separate pieces and with redundant parts making any re-rigging impossible without hours of manual retopology (basically remodelling it) and also losing the uvs. Further nothing I have tried has imported the .dds texture files on the model. I have to use the wrapper as the regular injector has the same launch problem as 3D Ripper DX.

I've included pictures with my file list from ninja ripper and import settings in the maxscript in case I've done something wrong.  I have played with the manual vertex layout and tex.num but I don't know enough about them to be effective and the descriptions online are vague.  A̶n̶o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶p̶o̶i̶n̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶I̶'̶m̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶s̶u̶r̶e̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶s̶e̶q̶u̶e̶n̶t̶i̶a̶l̶,̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶t̶e̶x̶t̶u̶r̶e̶s̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶h̶a̶r̶a̶c̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶l̶o̶o̶k̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶i̶n̶c̶l̶u̶d̶e̶ ̶d̶i̶f̶f̶u̶s̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶n̶o̶r̶m̶a̶l̶s̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶s̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶l̶i̶s̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶T̶e̶x̶_̶0̶0̶1̶5̶_̶2̶,̶ ̶T̶e̶x̶_̶0̶0̶1̶6̶_̶3̶ ̶e̶t̶c̶.̶ ̶ ̶I̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶r̶e̶ ̶s̶o̶m̶e̶ ̶w̶a̶y̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶R̶I̶P̶ ̶F̶i̶l̶e̶ ̶N̶u̶m̶s̶ ̶b̶o̶x̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶i̶n̶d̶i̶c̶a̶t̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶n̶u̶m̶b̶e̶r̶s̶ ̶a̶f̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶u̶n̶d̶e̶r̶s̶c̶o̶r̶e̶s̶ ̶s̶o̶ ̶i̶t̶ ̶a̶p̶p̶l̶i̶e̶s̶ ̶m̶u̶l̶t̶i̶p̶l̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶a̶m̶e̶ ̶m̶o̶d̶e̶l̶ ̶o̶r̶ ̶d̶o̶e̶s̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶l̶i̶s̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶r̶a̶n̶g̶e̶ ̶e̶n̶c̶a̶p̶s̶u̶l̶a̶t̶e̶ ̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶?̶  (Edit: I found an article explaining that last question.) I have tried importing single files too and again, they are broken up (like half of a face or arm) and the textures never apply.

Could someone please help me out? I'd really like to get clean models and with textures out for once.  I would be super grateful for a way to extract them from the game files or get ninjaripper (or a better program) to tpose them in solid fashion with textures. (Edit 2: The textures import using ninjaripper but it appears UV's are not imported at all. Generating UV's allows the textures to be placed but they obviously lose all usability and scatter all over the model without the original UVs)

It's located natively right in Game Modding Studio under one of the menu options at the top.

Would anyone be able to steer me in a better direction on my problem?

Update: I haven't gotten past where I am, but I did get Dx Ripper and Ninja Ripper launching the game with their base injectors. DX caputres a scene but not in the t-pose, and ninja still dissects the model and doesn't preserve UVs...
