Just made a sprite sheet, I could use some constructive criticism.

I just made this edited sprite sheet of Mario, and sent it in for verifying, however, it was rejected because it "did not meet quality standards for the Custom / Edited section". I wasn't told how it didn't meet these standards, but I was pointed to this forum to ask for some constructive criticism, so that's what I'll do. I've uploaded the sheet as an attatchment, so feel free to check it out.

From the looks of it, it was rejected because this is nothing more than a simple edit. Not only that, but also I do not see any demand for a zombie Mario sheet, such as this one.

While there's nothing completely wrong with editing sprite sheets for practice, you need to understand that you need to do more than just adding red in some areas and merging his normal sprites with his towel ones. Of course, if you're that serious about sprites, then follow a bit of advice Dragon De Platino said and just start from scratch. If you just do edits when you're starting it, it will only make it harder for you to develop your own sprite style.

it's ok to suck, sucking is not bad, just try and aim to always do your best!

The basis of sprites being accepted to tSR relies in two big rules: It must be of high quality and it needs to be (mostly) game canonical. That is, your sheet does not qualify in both (it's both a splice and a rather simple edit of Mario and Mario has never been battle damaged like that status-wise).

Of course, there are many exceptions for those rules but your sheet is not an exception, hence why your work was not accepted.
