Extracting 3DS Models without a 3DS.

Is it possible to extract models from Nintendo 3DS games without the use of a 3DS?

yeah, you may be able to find some decrypted romfs files on the net, or files from a game that people upload.

Or get xorpads to decrypt ROMs. I think some ROMs available on the web are pre-decrypted, but I don't know for sure.

I can write a tutorial for getting files without an xorpad if you'd like

Requires:
3DS ROM (go find this online u pirate)
This Tool Pack

Download the toolpack above and extract using 7-zip or WinRAR
Using the command below, convert your .CIA file to .CCI (if it's already .3ds, .3dz, .cci, or .csz, you dont have to do this)
Code:
makerom -ciatocci [pathtocia]

The makerom executable will output a .cci file we can open with 3DSROMTool
Open up your converted .cci file and click on 'Extract RomFS'. Once that's done we can simply click on 'Unpack RomFS'. Once that's done you'll have a folder with decrypted, encrypted and unpacked folders. Just go into unpacked and all your unpacked files should be there
really simple actually

thanks to @pragmatic for the tool package

It crashes...?

EDIT: I'm trying the Sonic Generations rom file. Extracting gives me this log (would spoiler, but edits don't allow me to see the wysiwyg editor):

Saving RomFS...

... but nothing inside the decrypted, encrypted, or unpacked folders.

Trying to unpack instantly gives me a completion message, but the log says otherwise:

Error, IVFC segment corrupted
Error, RomFS corrupted

Any reason?

Forgive me, but why extract from the 3DS version? Why not go with the easier route and rip the PC models? (Which many have already been ripped BTW.)

Because I want to??? I really have no better reason.

Dammit! Oh well.

EDIT: The help part of the program states that this only works on decrypted ROMS, and that unxored roms need xorpads.

NOTE TO ALL: With the release of *hax 2.5, one can get decrypted files without needing a Gateway. However, if you don't have IronFall, ThemeHax, or any paid methods, you'll have to get a paid method, such as Ninjhax, OOT3Dhax, or others.

I unfortunately did not get ThemeHax working fast enough, and I don't have any installable version of hax available to me (because all non-installable hax that aren't game exploits are dead). So I unfortunately am left out in the dust, again...
