2003 was an amazing game, but XI is basically 2003 + BETTER.

I was expecting something completly new, and that's why I feel disappointed... (09-16-2009, 04:37 AM)Tyvon Wrote: kinda longpost explaining why people disappointed by this game are wrong

XII is pretty darn good, I think they finally fixed the online lag on the PS3 but what they are missing is K', Mai, and Rock Howard

ah man, that sucks. Mai is my favourite character.
however, there are some screenshots around the net which show that her and K' are in it.
were these confirmed to be hoaxes or anything?
it's also a shame i didn't preordered it for PS3, cause it came with a figure at EB Games. (australia)
PS3 had Kyo, while X-Box 360 had Terry. but i like Terry Better

were these confirmed to be hoaxes or anything? I'm not sure. It makes sense for them to be real screenshots because K' and Mai were drawn in the art style used for XII, and there is some open character slots and a DLC menu in the options... only time will tell.

Let me go ahead and bump this by saying that this game is epic fun. (played it yesterday)
What could there possibly be to complain about that isn't an OBVIOUS complaint? The fighting is tighter than ever, and the small movelists suit the game. The only problems that I've noticed with this game is that some of the animations lack ouch factor.
You must have lost your fucking mind if you hate this game, or even think that it's average. The combo system might even be better in this than in the other games. They're a hell of a lot easier to control and the attacks connecting is smooth as silk. Some characters are missing their "important" moves (Terry's Power Dunk is nowhere to be seen) and those missing moves would definitely help this game out a lot more, but the move sets that each character already has are solid as fuck. Characters like Kensou and Iori that have completely new movelists are almost like completely new characters.
Honestly, this is easily the most BALANCED KOF game I've ever played. No one character is obviously better than the other. Except Daimon, who is broken as fuck. Some characters have more moves than others, but that only makes it SEEM unbalanced. When you actually play it, you'll realize it really isn't unbalanced at all.

As much as I like XII, BlazBlue is just a far better game. XII just isn't a big an up-step as I was hoping it to be and feels more like one of those "the next one will be great games."

Honestly, you can't compare games like Blazblue and King of Fighters. Blazblue is a fast-paced off-the-wall hyper-technical fighting game, whereas KOF is a traditional, simplistic fighter with a deep gameplay system.
The point is that being the KOF buff that I am I can't understand why anybody could ever say they DISLIKE the game. KOF easily takes the top as the best 2D traditional fighter.

I agree mostly 'cause i hate elaborate combo systems. I would rather be using actual strategies and timing than extremely long button strings.

Just seems out-dated. Apart from a graphical update (and less characters) the game offers little to redeem how much it cost. Hell there isn't even a story...
But it's not outdated. That's the thing. The presentation is a little rushed, sure, but the gameplay is definitely not outdated.

from what I hear (I haven't got a chance to play either yet really)
BlazBlue is actually a lot more like street fighter, with simple attacks but oriented around controlling the area, with KoF being more bawls to the wawls
Thinking of you,
wherever you are.
Blazblue and Street Fighter are NOTHING alike, this much is obvious just by watching gameplay videos. Again, you can't compare traditional fighters to technical fighters.

There's also no point in arguing with someone who loves a series, so any point made here will just be dismissed by Tyvon, you... FANBOY!
