I think we need to go with in style rather than Viewtiful Joe style.

Go with the 2nd one.

Normally I would agree but it seems wrong without the cell shading. I'm considering making two versions and leaving it up to the dude using it and it really wouldn't be much extra effort as I'll probably add in the cell shading afterwards.

I think the non-Viewtiful styled one looks weird because of the hue shifting. It ends up making him pink instead of red.

that's probably because I designed the pallet to be in the VJ style. I'll try and fix it.

I was planning on making him a playable character because of a potential moveset, but I may be 'pushing it' with the Kirby characters considering there's already Kirby, D3, MK, and Gooey (which is awesome, by the way). Not to mention that he seems kinda random. I think I should find a "star" character to do (...hey, that gives me an idea XD). Still, I would like to make him playable...

Yeah, I'm not sure if common enemies are playable.
But then again people wanted Knuckle Joe so...

I did make a Knuckle Joe sprite but it looked crappy.

This refers to the character's idle stance. Obviously, rotations are allowed when the character is doing other things. For everything else, I'm pretty sure we're just using the Project's Mario sprite as a style reference. The light source is diagonally in front and above the character (with the character facing right), colors aren't really bright, etc.

For style references, check out the Smash Bros Project board.
