I only pick Eri in Metal Slug, I swear. :v

Awesome rips, not sure if your only getting them from the main metal slug series or I'm forgetting some glowing cyan enemies.

It's an aircraft carrier from Raiden DX. Namely, the one you take off and land from. There is, however, a looping rocket animation further up the page.

also CUTE ASIAN GIRLS! REVY! PEOPLE WITH THEIR HEADS BLOWN OFF! ...I like you already!

You had better. I've got an ion cannon here just in case.

Yeah, there's quite a bit of edited stuff there, though I try to make it simple for the sake of making full animation (And keeping the number of colors at sixteen, mind you). The Trust/Drudge are enemies from The Conduit, and then I have some Blue Alloy-looking thing from SSBB and a badly-edited Geth from Mass Effect (Though I really wanna retcon it to those robot things from Dogyuun/OutZone.

And then this one has a crapload of different characters from different franchises, but I kind of forgot since I made it, and a lot of them are practically hidden there. I guess some of the more notable ones include Claire Redfield from Resident Evil, Flame/Rosa from Undercover Cops (If you haven't played it, please do, it's awesome), Angel from Shock Troopers: Second Squad (The only girl who screams "PERVERT!" louder than Mai from KoF) and Solid Snake from...well, come on, I'm sure you'd know.

The only thing really new today is the avatar and signature, because I felt my themes should be based on the companies I like instead of the game series. As thus I have Toaplan (Which split into Cave, Raizing, Takumi, and Gazelle), Nazca (Which started out working as an Irem team before leaving to make its own company and then becoming part of SNK and later SNK Playmore [It's possible some left and worked with Sammy for Dolphin Blue, though I'm not certain]), Seibu Kaihatsu (Previously Seibu Denshi), and Treasure (Who has just been plain and simple Treasure this entire time).

Also, if you're screaming tl;dr right now, get used to it. All my posts are practically essays.

You make me like Metal Slug

even if I don't like it

damn

With bodies this sexy I find it hard to believe there's no rule 63 art of them. Cute

I also find it hard to believe no one has ripped them, either.

Edit: Although Martians are the kind that prefer surgical pinpoint aiming over crude and primitive weight of fire, it's interesting to imagine if they did have machine guns in their arsenal...

RE: There's no end to esreveR sprite threads... - esreveR - 09-02-2009

Sorry for the double post, but if I hadn't done so it may well be double-posting and a necro-post (If you know what I mean).

First things first, and that is school. School started today. It ended quicker than I thought, but that's only one day, so hmm. My spriting speed may slow to a crawl sooner or later, too, so beware.

Now, I recently read on MSDB's archive of Metal Slug 3's homepage (Or whatever that Metal Slug Project thing is) that the Thunder Cloud power weapon (The one in Mission 2 that the President gives you and spawns a thundercloud that zaps foes, what else?) is made up of nanomachines. So what happens if you give those nanomachines a definite form, of, say, the user? Well...

...The results may be rather interesting. In b4 'thundercloud-tan' and whatnot, despite the fact I'm probably being paranoid and no one will actually pay attention to it.

Now for a ridiculous round of random recolors. (Where'd my tongue go?)

Super Devil Eri kick. (Note that I used a different palette because honestly, MSX's Super Devil palette sucked)

Super Tarma boxing glove. Bor-ing.

Now, typically these foes are nerfed so badly that you begin to feel bad for the poor things. But when you get Green Super Eri Clones firing Super Grenades out of Handguns while backflipping in midair, things might get ever so slightly harder. And only slightly. They never have splash damage for enemy projectiles, do they? Damn.

And Super Rebel Gatling Gunners makes little to no difference either. Okay, so they're firing bazooka shells now, so what, you can still see them getting ready to attack five miles away, and then you have practically an entire hour to do any kind of evasive maneuver you can think of. I bet you could figure out how to find the level select menu before the guy even fires.

Edit:

Just because the fools at MSDB said so. I DO NOT ENDORSE THIS ANIMATION IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM. Stupid things use batteries, and not at that rate!

Edit: Because it's not worth making a new post about.

Thundercloud-Tan?

The fact this image had three more colors than could be allowed on a NeoGeo sprite drove me so god-fucking nuts that I made the chaingun and drum a completely separate set of sprites. Really.

Nanomachines, eh? Interesting... I sense one great idea coming outta this...
...Not a 'thundercloud-tan', though. It's something else.

...WHY DID THIS TAKE ME SO FUCKING LONG TO RIP

Mobile Satellite tomorrow. Hopefully.

Edit: To hold you over, though...

[Image: battery.gif][Image: firechili.gif]

May or may not rip effects associated with them. Tile ripping's a pain.

RE: There's no end to esreveR sprite threads... - esreveR - 09-06-2009

So much anticipation from you guys Cry

And I probably will rip the effects, then see if I can sheet as many explosions as I possibly can because some guy is nagging at me to do so.

Edit: And laser/fire effects.

Battery laser: I'm not quite certain about this one because you can only use it against the zombies in Mission 2 of MS3. However, apparently it kills them instantly (Which means it must do ten or more damage) and inflicts damage every frame (Or rather, every Metal Slug frame, which is actually two NeoGeo frames). Apparently it goes through enemies too, and the programmers never bothered making it stop anywhere. Which means that if you actually had this thing anywhere else, it would be cheap as fuck (10 points of damage times 24 frames equals 240 points of damage, which is the kind of stuff only bosses can handle).

as you can see this thing looks completely boring without sprite movement

Fire Chili fire: I know that's redundant, yes. I got it from the MS Project site so don't look at me. This is effectively a Big Flame Shot blast that you'd fire while in Jumbo Player mode (The one when you're fat, again, official name), but since I've never seen anyone study Flame Shot mechanics closely in Metal Slug I'll lay that out for you as well.

Flame Shot consists of three parts: The ball (The big thing with shockwaves), the flames (Look like red explosions), and the tail (Looks like a squashed red explosion). The ball is the only thing actually spawned by performing an attack. It in turn spawns the tail and then a flame, then goes a frame without spawning anything, then spawns a flame the next two frames, and then repeats from the 'frame without spawning anything' phase. As such there is only ever one tail piece, after it spawns only flames spawn.

The ball disappears and stops spawning flames after 13 frames. After that a new round can be fired. The ball does 1 point of damage every frame (A total of 13 points of damage), the flames do 1 point of damage every 4 frames (They do this for all 24 frames, so that's about 6 points per flame), and 7 flames are spawned (and thus 42 points of damage for flames). The tail does no damage. In total, if the entire attack connects, it's 55 points per shot, but since it's only natural that most of the components will miss (due to speed, randomization of trajectory [and therefore loss of accuracy], and enemy movement), this is never actually reached in-game.

That was probably very confusing, but whatever. Studying the game with Kawaks can help.

One of the hottest I've ever seen.

If only the girls would agree Cry

I'm surprised, however, that if anything I have a +2 reputation score. Back at SW I had a -2, so yeah.

...Well, my old explosion SFX rip can be considered obsolete now. Great show, though.

Also, when you asked about that idea I had earlier with the Thunder Cloud... I won't say anything yet, but I will tell that it's got to do with reverse-engineering.

Complete animation and all. Only one shown though.

Edit: Dan's STILL awesome. Despite my horrid organization, too!

i always loved those metal slug animations, they traslate well into RPG spell animations for like rpg maker and stuff loool. i might even actually use them
