I hope it's 3D models on 2D stages like NSMB.
With the Wii they could make the game huge.

NO! That looked awful.
2D sprites on 3D backgrounds look fine, not the other way round. They way that some enemies were polygons and other rendered sprites also looked ass.
If this looks like the Wario wii game it'll look awesome.

To be honest, I do think the Mario 64 idea is pretty much the case.
It'd make sense since that was their best 3D Mario game.

Anyone see the Toads using the same powerups as the Mario Bros. in NSMB Wii? Though the blue Fire Toad looks ridiculous. I'm so getting NSMB Wii when the game launches. I just hope it's more challenging than the original game...
EDIT - NSMB Wii will have 80 or so stages!
