Gesture drawing of a selfportrait. Please note my pen only touched the paper once, I never picked it back up while drawing this so my line quality is pretty shit, but yeah it is a gesture drawing(which is no excuse, and I'm more than willing to admit I'm really bad at gesture drawing). Done almost entirely from memory, looked once maybe twice at my refelction in the window for a reference point or two, and this was intended to reflect more of a tired/semi depressed look, rather than a perfect resemblence to myself.

I'll do a formalized one at some point, this was pretty fun though.

I noticed that the eyes and the nose look off-center...

Sure Des I'll post a comparison, Actually if you go back one page or two (literally) in the picture thread, I'm in there.

Tyvon, they are, their placed on a slant, the heads slightly tipped, I was trying to incoporate a little movement into such a dead view of the face.

The guy on the way right has a big underbite.

RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - LeleleleMAXIMUM - 02-03-2011

welp so
i read a manga compilation that had a one-shot story that was verrrry similar to this guy's "story"
he just changed the dog doll to a... bunny doll! oh, yay!

the thing is, it was the same book he was holding when he pitched it to me
and he was all, "oh, was there a story like that in there? i didn't know."
he then proceeded to pitch a story that sounded a bit too much like Dream's wake in Sandman, but now it's the "God of Time."

tl;dr: he's a talentless hack and i don't want anything to do with him ever

quick doodle, mediocre experiment with charcoal. 3-5 minutes. charcoal pencils were kind of incredibly dull so i didn't put much detail in the eyes

You should try conventional charcoal! It's easier to blend and it's a much quicker medium.

Charcoal pencils tend to be a kinda middle ground between pencil and charcoal -- I'd always assumed they were just like compressed charcoal but with a wooden barrel so your hands didn't get all gross, but that is not the case :C

Oh, but using a mix of conventional charcoal and charcoal pencil can be pretty cool! Charcoal pencils are good for building up the definition that you lack when working with charcoal C:
