RE: Suggestions - Dazz - 06-05-2012

... We're doing that as well.

RE: Suggestions - ~Axis~ - 06-05-2012

May I suggest that the community have a chat room that's compatible with mobile?

RE: Suggestions - Dazz - 06-05-2012

We tried a chatroom before - nobody uses them.

Additional, I don't really understand why you'd want a chatroom, on a forum? I mean... The forum kind of is a chatroom except the messages stay for longer and can involve a lot more detail

RE: Suggestions - Previous - 06-05-2012

Sometimes, you just want to have some nice random smalltalk. I don't consider a forum to be "a better version of chats", it's a different pair of shoes.

We do have a handful of members popping in at times lately. It's always worth a shot, you never know who you'll meet.

Anyways, there are IRC clients for Android and iOS, I think. Those should work.

On a sidenot, marketing is an important topic. People don't know about the chat. Many themes do not have the chat button on the top any more. I've never seen a TSR chat who has been properly promoted by management. If it wasn't for my sig, we wouldn't have had most of our visitors (including Mighty Jetters). Nerd

RE: Suggestions - ~Axis~ - 06-05-2012

I agree, It would be nice to chat with members who don't usually post stuff...

Oh, and like previous said, most people won't even know that the site had a chat room if it wasn't for his sig. It would be convinient to have one that can be spotted easiliy... Unsure

I'd be willing to help with a DS ripping tutorial. I've already started on one a bit, I'd just need to pick up where I left off.

Big Grin

And once the new site's up, I think adding rip tutorials for these systems would be awesome too: Davias' PSX-VRAM guide, Genesis, Arcade, PC/Computer, maybe even NES.

If nobody else wants to I'd probably be up for making a Genesis ripping one. Especially since I found that Gens-GS emulator that has (practically) perfect palettes.

RE: Suggestions - Garamonde - 06-05-2012

I already know how to rip with the screenshot method, I was just thinking more like having a guide focused on using tools (I guess the only tools that exist that actually work for Genesis games would be Tile Molester/YY-CHR/Tiled GGD, but I was hoping to find something that didn't entirely involve puzzling tiles, finding the right palette and all that complicated stuff) that some incredibly skilled ripping professional out there may've found/invented. RE: Suggestions - ~Axis~ - 06-06-2012

MJ, by "PC/computer" tutorials, do you mean that you'll write a tutorial on how to rip stuff from games in general, or from just a few?

RE: Suggestions - puggsoy - 06-06-2012

Indeed, PC games can have a wide range of different methods for ripping, depending on how the game stores them. For example in World of Goo images are just simple PNG files, whereas when I had a quick look at Bastion's files everything was encrypted in weird formats.

Ah, OK. Don't really know of any program like that, although GSavestate does an OK job with small tiles. Still, most people seem to go with screenshotting, and not all know how to or which emulator to use (personally I had to Google quite a bit). So a tutorial for that would still be kind of useful.

If that's the case, I really hope that you make a guide on how to extract models from P3D files, Mighty! Wink

Can't find a single thing on extracting them, other then viewing their contents by listing the files.
Nothing useful here.

RE: Suggestions - ~Axis~ - 06-06-2012

I just realized that Senjen recommended a tool that's called "Peak 3D"... Haven't tried it yet though.
