RE: Toon Link - Wes - 12-13-2009

Well the Mirror Shield from WW was only in WW and MC, but the Wooden Shield looked like that in every single Toon Link game. And yeah, the grappling Hook would be best. The Snake Whip is more of a ripoff of Lucas's Rope Snake, so it's out.

Not to mention Lucas also has a snake whip (from what I heard, the whip in ST is shaped like a snake)

I'm not sure what the blue shield is, but I was thinking maybe the lobster shield?

The Blue Shield is the Mirror Shield from MC/WW. Yeah, the Lobster shield would be better since it's in both PH and ST.

Maybe the Telescope could be a taunt? I think that's be pretty cool. He just takes it out and looks through it for a bit.

RE: Toon Link - HyperSonic92 - 12-13-2009

I'm fine with Ezlo, Wind Waker, and WW Victory dance for taunts

RE: Toon Link - Wes - 12-14-2009

OK new shields, and I tried him facing the other direction. I wasn't sure if the style says he needs to be resrited int he other direction due to his arms, but I just flipped the body and redid the arms/shield/sword to work with it. The shields also have different designs on them. In order from left to right of the top shields: Lobster Shield (PH, unlocked later in ST), Wooden Shield (WW, FS, FSA, MC), ST Shield (ST). The bottom one is the Mirror Shield from WW and MC.

Hm? And to think Ton said no about that with Mega Man...

Oh and seriously lose the smile!

RE: Toon Link - Bazzoka - 12-14-2009

Dude. Get over it. It can be changed later and plus I also thought I read someone say that it didn't really matter what his expression was at the moment since it changes a lot during his idle.

RE: Toon Link - Ton - 12-14-2009

There's a difference between an amalgamation of one character and several characters.

RE: Toon Link - tsr moderation staff - 12-14-2009

yeah, all the toon links look identical, act identical, and have more or less the same items and moves. all the megamen are very distinct and often have completely different moves (exe to classic for example). not to mention they're totally different characters.

Technically all those Links are different.

Besides I'm just talking about sharing a few minor things like the kick from Legends.

EDIT Back to Toon Link.

Doesn't his shield face straight always to protect you from projectiles?

I brought that point up a while ago but everyone ignored it.

(12-10-2009, 06:02 PM)Wes Wrote: OK so here's the scoop. I've been thinking about his stance, and some things don't add up. In Brawl, when facing right, Toon Link is facing away from the screen. Yet we have him facing towards the screen, seen in the picture below in the the top row (ours - Brawl). The problem with ours is his shield. In Brawl (and the other two games with regular Link), his shield can block weak projectiles while he stands still. However, we have his shield being held behind him, so this doesn't work.

I don't know what our standing is on the whole "flipped sprites vs respriting in the other direction", but I think Link should be resprited when facing right because it would mess up his right-handedness. However, the point of this post is to find a way to fix the problem of him not shielding his front when facing right (facing left isn't a problem, we can make it like Brawl was (bottom left of the picture)).

My idea is to scrap the whole "block when idle"thing, and change it to "block when crouching". His crouch could be the same as Brawl (kneeling and holding the shield still in front of him). My other idea is the change the way he holds the shield in the current sprite so that it covers his body (bottom right).

RE: Toon Link - Koopaul - 12-15-2009

Naw the shield while idle is a tradition of Zelda games. Were not going to change a mechanic because its easier to sprite.

RE: Toon Link - D2S-Speed - 12-15-2009

Toon Link's expression changes alot in his idle. Goes to Grumpy face then to a pondering face, and so on and so forth.

RE: Toon Link - Kitsu - 12-15-2009

Yeah, I agree that maybe both Links should be edited to have the shield guard when idle.

I'm pretty sure most agreed that the characters who have definite handed-ness (e.g. Link, Samus, etc.) would have both directions entirely resprited.
