What sheeting tools do people use - gizmogoat - 06-28-2025

I'm working on sheeting a relatively large game mod, and I'm struggling to find any tools that fit the bill short of just doing it all by hand in i.e. GIMP.
Dazz's web-based sheeter is good, but as far as I can tell there's no way to save a sheet project and come back to it later after taking a break.
Daxar's sheeter hasn't been updated in 8-something years, and I can't get it working nowadays with my setup.

So, I ask this: Are there any tools around to organize large sheets, including plugins for existing editors?

I managed to get Dazz's sheeter working somewhat well in Wine, although it kinda sucks that nobody has picked up the torch to update this application since 2017.
As a product of its time, its using a really old EoL version of Qt5. It also doesn't appear to really use any standard build pipeline like CMake or anything.

Sheetmaker still holds up and works very well, but I think it's windows only.
Daxar's sprite sheeter on the other hand has a macOS version:

If you're a linux user, then your options are even more limited, especially if you want to handle a large amount of files and slap them on a sheet.
