Fire Emblem Engage Ripping Project - 2D sprites and 3D models - Worldblender - 02-12-2023

Sorry for taking so long, but I now have a page for this game's 2D assets at https://www.spriters-resource.com/nintendo_switch/fireemblemengage/
With most of my ripping efforts uploaded at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/17wQuea4RDFMI7JXkWGi4_UELAHLq_M8n?usp=sharing, I can finally take action in seeing this game's assets appear here, but with so much stuff to go through, this could take me several months for me to fully upload whatever can be uploaded. I haven't forgotten about 3D models, but I will come back to them later once I upload the majority of the 2D assets.

Original message:
On January 20 2023, the first Nintendo-published game for this year, Fire Emblem Engage, released. Unusually for a Nintendo-published game, it uses the Unity 3D engine, which may make it easier to extract audiovisual resources from this game. I've only heard of one (or two) other Nintendo-published game, Jump Rope Challenge, that uses this engine, but all of that game's 2D sprites have already been ripped and uploaded. This other game I know of (3rd-party published by Raw Thrills, but Nintendo owns the copyright of) is the Nintendo Switch port of Cruisn' Blast, that I'm not sure of if any of this game's audiovisual resources have been ripped yet or not, but which I may get to later.

Previously, I've been considering to help in ripping 3D models from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but that game uses one of Koei Tecmo's proprietary engines that uses several formats that may not be well-documented, which unfortunately discouraged me from doing so (but if I get help from someone else, maybe I can get back to doing this in the future). Unlike with Three Houses, where Koei Tecmo did most of the development, Engage has been developed wholly by Intelligent Systems (with outside help from a few other companies, but Koei Tecmo not being one of them).

However, hearing of this usage of Unity in such a high-profile game gave me motivation to consider starting my first ripping project for Engage - because the ripping process will likely be very similar to ripping assets from other games using Unity, and I can reuse whatever I learn during this process for other Unity games. I have already acquired this game's data files, but I'm not so sure of where to get started, especially since I use Ubuntu GNU/Linux, the process for this work will likely be different. I know of tools like AssetRipper and AssetStudio, but as both of these tools use .NET (which historically didn't have good Linux support until it was open-sourced), getting them to run on Linux distros may be a bit challenging. If I cannot complete any ripping process here, I can dual-boot to Windows to complete this. I'm also only interested in ripping the audiovisual assets for now; I'm not focused on modding Engage by modifying assets.

Spreadsheet containing lots of ripped resources, plus Google Drive links to other ripped assets (not made by me):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qFcABi455ZzLh0Drz1yZAxat5i_GWxIv3SPEDdlcZRE/edit#gid=0

Having been a recent Fire Emblem fan influenced from the Super Smash Bros. games (Ultimate in particular), I've been thinking I could potentially make fan-games and fan-animations with these models, including the new characters introduced in Engage and the returning characters appearing via Emblem Rings (especially for those that appear in 3D for the first time), but that's not all I'm thinking of for potential use-cases.

As of this post, I have not yet found a dedicated page for this game for sprites and/or for models (unless I wasn't paying attention and they were made while I was away, in which case send me the links). If other people have ripped any assets for Engage that can be uploaded here, let me know and I can at least assist with uploading with anything that has already been ripped; I don't want to repeat efforts that other people may have already done. I'm all-new to ripping from commercial video games, as proprietary file formats that are often found in them have often discouraged me from committing to such ripping projects. so I may need lots of help at first. For those interested, thanks for helping me out.

I am also quite new to the whole ripping thing, and have managed to do a bit. I don’t have much time in general, but I am trying my hardest to rip these assets. Honestly, people do need to get together and create a place to dump all of these models. I have gotten a bit out of the game, but am still struggling with a lot of the models. So I would be all in if people could get together to extract the 3D models from FEE.

Thank you for whatever help that you have done so far. Wink If you say that you've already done some ripping work, even if it's only the 2D sprites/graphics, where do you have it stored at so I can take a look, if if not yet found here?

I think I may also need to know the file/directory structure of the game data so I can better know where to look should I actually getting around to the actual ripping.

I have actually gotten to the point in which I have ripped and textured male Alear. I haven't uploaded anything, but I can give you a google drive link to a folder in which I might start posting things. The only thing I don't like is that there are pivot points, but I think unity deals with them fine, unlike blender. Here's a folder to what I have gotten so far https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1J0kVo_loTzZrWoSjw-Fg0EEvTyUrNCkQ?usp=sharing I'll be working on this little by little over time, but I can do specific items or characters if you need them.

That's better than nothing, for a start. For the 3D models, I'm not looking for anything in particular since I'm still playing this game, but I may be looking for the 2D graphics, such as the character sprites, character portraits, emblem ring artwork, and HUD elements. I have seen some of those things already appear on the Fire Emblem Wiki, but I'm not sure if they have been uploaded here yet or not. Those should be easier to rip than the 3D models if not all of them have already been ripped.

Does anyone know how to rip the Hair textures in Fire Emblem Engage? I'm not entirely sure how to get them, but it would be nice to know how to rip them. I know I'll probably have to manually color them, due to procedural texturing and all.

Depending on the character, you could find the hair model and (rarely) textures in either the uhair subfolder in the fe_assets_unit folder or in the uacc subfolder in the fe_assets_item folder.

And yes, you will have to manually color the hair texture regardless. IIRC, you can get the RGB values for the hair color in the asset table file.

EDIT: It seems like most of the character's hair don't even have textures at all rather the hair color is shader based from looks of it. In that case, you will have to make the hair texture yourself.

Still, the hair color can be obtained from the ohair variant if the uhair doesn't have the RGB values in the asset table.

RE: Fire Emblem Engage Ripping Project - 2D sprites and 3D models - foulveins - 03-09-2023

old-ish post, i'm aware, but the hair can be set up pretty easily even without shaders; though i'm pretty sure the actual direction of the hair shine is still influenced by that in game

hair meshes have two uvs, and you may need to either grab a different fbx importer for blender orrrrrr import it as an .obj and deal with reweighting it yourself

uv1 is just the block colours which you can grab from the asset table file, there's often a 'mask' texture that should help you get the hair colours in the right direction

uv2 uses one of the angelring files in `fe_assets_unit\model\common`, and that's the actual hairshine

if done right, you should get something like this:

though obviously better people than me can probably refine that lol

Hello everyone. I'm wondering if someone can upload the files of the game to export the models? Something similar to what has been done with the Pokemon models.

I can upload the models, but I do not have the time to actually format them right. So if you want, I can give the raw models (you're gonna have to make a lot of textures yourself and fix the rig). I would like to know specifics of what you want.

Is it possible to get Hector's 3D model at this point in time? I'd be interested in a raw of him. Raw should be enough for me to get started on a cosplay.

RE: Fire Emblem Engage Ripping Project - 2D sprites and 3D models - Worldblender - 10-30-2023

From this point on, I have taken over in uploading most of this game's assets as nobody has done so for the past 6 months. All of this game's 2D assets that I have uploaded so far can now be found at https://www.spriters-resource.com/nintendo_switch/fireemblemengage/
I will get to 3D models later on once I upload a majority of this game's 2D assets.
