ACNH texture shading? - Reitanna - 06-01-2021

i'm trying to convert some ACNH models to use in the sims 4, but while looking at materials for ACNH objects, i noticed something very frustrating. on the diner set specifically, the metal parts are colored a flat tan. here's a picture of what the textured model looks like out of game verses in game:

um... what? that's what i said to myself. how the heck did that texture translate like that in game? what shader are they using? what is going on??? can anyone shed some light on this for me?

as far as i know, you need to add specular to it and it will work as the metallic finish
