Crv Textures? | Animal Crossing New Horizons - ninetalescommander - 05-07-2020

So I checked out the models for Blathers and Rover (Thanks Ziella by the way) and I notice there are these textures called "Crv". I have to be honest; I've never come across textures like these before and have no idea how to apply them in the node editor in Blender. I know they are obtained from Alpha Channel on the Alb Texture so I figured they were some sort of alpha texture but I've had no joy figuring out how they work.

Anyone know? If you have not seen them for yourself, here's a link

From a guess, I would say the CRV is the highlights around the characters (maybe it means Curve?) I posted a sample from the game, the original render sans CRV, and then with CRV applied. The node setup for CRV is also attached. Thoughts?

I gave that a try and from what I can see, your way is the way to go. I did have to re-route some of the other textures like the AO Texture and Colour Textures but overall this does seem to be the way to go. Thanks!

If you don't mind me asking; How do you go about setting up the rest of the textures?

1st attachment is the Node setup for the Beak Material. It has AO, Alb, Crv, and Nrm applied.
2nd is the Eye material. It has Alb, Crv, Spc and Nrm.
3rd is Body. It has Alb, Crv, Rgh, and Nrm. This is the same setup for the CapVis object as well.
4th is for the Tie. Alb, Crv, AO, Mtl, Rgh, and Nrm.

I did not apply the AO to all objects as their maps are pure white (Body and Eye) and wouldn't have added anything to it.

I did apply the MTL and RGH maps to the tie...though they are wholly unnecessary as MTL is pure black, so 0, and RGH is pure white...so 1.

That's great, thanks for the guidance.
