Rendering Issues (PCSX2) - Suukisan - 11-09-2019

Hi, so I dumped my European copy of Parappa the Rapper 2 so that I could emulate it since I couldn't afford a PS2 from the EU (For context, I live in the US.) Everything was going smooth, other than a bit of lag due to the RAM on my computer until I noticed that in the second level when the camera was panned to the TV, the buttons I was supposed to press were being covered by the TV model, making it considerably harder to get past the level. But by the third level, in the third lesson I believe, there was a point that the game finally became unplayable at this point because the top half of the armchair was rendering on the split view screen, covering up the buttons that I was being told to press with a transparent sheet so I only saw the background. I tried tweaking with a few settings but still nothing seemed to work.. Anyone know how to fix this?

PaRappa the Rapper 2 has issues with things being rendered in the wrong order when emulated. UmJammer Lammy has issues with music timings. I think the first game is mostly okay. This isn't a great series to emulate.

Should you run PaRappa 2 on a softmodded PS2, note that the game isn't compatible with ESR. I haven't tried USB Advance but can give it a shot if you like.

Ah, that's really a shame. I'm really into the series and I'm too worried that i'll end up damaging my ps2 while softmodding so i was hoping there was ways to fix the rendering problems, but thanks for answering!

Your risk of damaging the PS2 by softmodding is basically zero since it doesn't involve any hardware modifications. All I did was buy a memory card from eBay with Free McBoot preloaded. It utilises the system update feature to add various stuff. Since the "update" is stored on the memory card, you can get everything back to normal simply by unplugging the card.

Ah, thank you! Since my entire family uses our PS2, I'd hate to run the risk of damaging anything. I'll look into it for sure!
And also if there's ever a discovery about fixing the rendering order or something, please let me know,,!!
