My attempt at Mario & Luigi Dream Team/Paper Jam sprites in SuperStar Saga's style - TheMario360 - 05-07-2016

I made a prototype of what I had in mind. Should I continue with this?

Feedback please?

I actually like the look of that quite a bit. It'd probably benefit from smaller feet and hands as they currently look a little disproportionate, but I like what you've done overall.

Well, keep in mind, the original looked like this.

I'm not sure if I should make altercations to the basic shape of the base sprite.

Oh, it's just an edit of Paper Jam Mario.

Well whatever

My previous critique still stands. The hands and feet are too large, and that's mostly due to the addition of the outline. You've made everything slightly bigger, and it doesn't translate well to certain parts. The base sprite (having no outline) has more freedom to achieve an exact shape, and when that shape is altered even slightly, it can look pretty wonky.

Break the mold a little bit. The base sprite should only be used as a starting point, not to shackle you down.

I edited the sprite a bit. Is it any better?

Yeah, that does look better. Increasing the space between the legs was a good move.

I made one for Luigi keeping the previous critiques in mind.

Uh... Hello? Would anyone like to critique my work?

I'm sad to say that I don't know how to give proper C+C for this because they look great as is. Shade was right, the shoes were a little big in the original you did. Keep up the good work. It's funny you posted this because I started playing Superstar Saga again last night.

How incredibly coincidental Smug

I might start doing some animations later.
