Is this allowed (Question about tilesets) - Filler - 03-27-2016

In Undertale, some of the scenes are made up of a single sprite, or they use tilesets. The biggest issue is, it's really hard to rip the tile-based scenes, since you can't extract them as a sprite.

I thought of a really dumb solution, by using the scene editor in Stencyl, I can export the game's tilesets and re-create the scenes tile-by tile, and just save the working scene as an image. Here's an example with Temmie Village (Which has been asked to be ripped quite a few times) - which uses a tileset.

And here's the tileset I used.

The door and painting are actual sprites, so to make sure for accuracy, I just screen-capped them and pasted them in. So they align right.

I'm pretty sure this is allowed.

As long as it is accurate, it doesn't matter how convoluted the method is, imo.

It was approved, so it I guess it is allowed.

You can always make a few screenshots and replace the tiles the NPCs are standing on. Should take about 10 minutes.

Did you compare it to the actual ingame-area?

Yes I did, used the maps of Rawr's site (They host the game's maps, but they show the NPCs and trigger hitboxes, making it useless for rips) compared in GIMP via layers, it's accurate.
