I kinda wish they get rid of incenses for making baby Pokémon. It's dumb and creates more items then we need. Just have it so that they automatically produce baby Pokémon.

I would hope breeding in general sees more improvements in the future. It has become better over time (just look at RSE breeding in comparison to XY's system) but the changes are usually implemented in dribs and drabs across multiple generations and breeding is still more or less a bike simulator. And if you're after a specific combination of traits breeding can potentially take a nightmarishly long time.

Getting a top-tier Volt Tackle Pikachu for example would require not using an everstone and rolling for an adamant or jolly hatchling and hoping the destiny knot gave it the right IVs. And on top of that you'd want the mother Pikachu's hidden ability to be passed on which would mean hunting down a dreamworld female Pikachu in the first place and breeding two parents with the correct stats.

I like them all, but especially the owl and cat. The new region is called Alola and seems to be based on Hawaii.

Popplio is the cutest and most appealing for me.
Main male player looks like he broke out of prison with that shirt.
Will the Pokemon models finally have more animations!? Catching up to Dragon Quest Monsters Joker standards?

female trainers are adorable, i am sold on video game

Looking pretty okay. Day one buy.

The owl is my favourite.

They've modernized the outfits the main trainers are wearing for sure. Like I can imagine people IRL wearing them.

I sort of get the feeling they went for a tropical region, so they can make more use of the diving mechanic. Makes me wonder if it'll be expanded on.

RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - redblueyellow - 05-10-2016

My first impressions of the game's starters were that Litten and Popplio seemed out of place and Rowlet had more of a Pokemon feel, but they are definitely starting to grow on me. Especially seeing the additional artwork for the three, there is a lot more character to them.

Since this generation's setting is Hawaiian/tropical, I wonder if they will have the region separated into multiple islands?

Based on this image from the Japanese trailer, the shown island doesn't look to have enough area to be the entire region. It would be cool if they relied on different modes of transportation to travel to various islands. Just doing a very brief search of how to island hop in Hawaii, it looks to be mostly flying. But they could incorporate plane and boat (possibly similar to SS Anne) until you get access to surf.

RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - Koh - 05-10-2016

That could be interesting. If they do that, I'd hope the vehicles have trainers to battle, and that they wouldn't be the only way to go to the different islands, allowing us to surf to them, or at least Fly to them.

Also, the wave of fanart is happening now. Better brace for impact on the art sites, because they're hitting hard, lol.

That Lion Legendary is the best. The besttttttttt.

RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - Omega - 05-10-2016

The Owl is the best.

RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - Jermungandr - 05-10-2016

I'll be honest, while I like to stay unspoiled for everything else in the game, I usually pick my starters based on their final evolutionary form rather than their first, so I can't really say for sure which one I'd pick at this moment.

But ... the fact that the owl appears to be wearing a bowtie is earning it some serious brownie points.

Here's hoping in its final form it's wearing a full fledged tuxedo.

RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - Koopaul - 05-10-2016

Well I've been disappointed with the starters since Gen 4 so this doesn't surprise me.

No I don't hate them, I'm just disappointed in them. Why? They're retreads... again. They're animals they've already used. Owl, Cat, Sea Lion. We got those already. There's about a gazillion animals or lifeforms they have yet to make Pokemon out of and yet I'm seeing more turtles and monkeys and cats and dogs.

RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - Koh - 05-10-2016

Maybe they can make one out of this
