ripping PSX models - Printable Version

ripping PSX models - Wonderman532 - 05-23-2015

i want to rip models from PSX games using pSX, because thats the only emulator that can measure the depth of PSX polygons (even though PSX doesn't have a Z-Buffer), but how do i convert VRAM data into a usable mesh like .obj or .3ds? i would really like to expand the PSX category on TMR a bit.
the games are:
The Land Before Time: Big Water Adventure (a request by DigiPonytheDigimon on dA)
Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon
Carrmageddon (original 1996 release)
Nicktoons Racing
Dance Dance Revolution 2ndMix (just the trippy backgrounds)

Yes I know what you mean I wanted to rip psx models for a long time and now that someone made a plugin to hack and replace textures for spyro 3 and 2 I think we should go and make it possible to rip psx with the full model and not the 2d cut out

If this is doable with just pSX, then I could probably contribute some as well (although I'd personally prefer using .dae files, since they load right in Blender). Maybe I could add some Frogger '97 models!

I would contribute models from the 5 crash bandicoot psx games,the 3 spyro games and Croc 1-2

some bit of advise, alot of the better models in that TLBT game might be prerendered (like the cut scene models) since older games did this alot...pretty good graphics though for the normal gameplay

for The Land Before Time: Big Water Adventure, extracting the rom using the .cue helped alot, i found its ost & some other stuff too, but the models are in .PSX or .DSC format, anyone know how to crack into these files?

To be honest, I would like character, enemy and map models from Wild Arms 2, as well as stages and characters from Bushido Blade 1 and 2.

I wish I could help you but my blue toshiba laptop is laggy can't rip models like this unless if I have a new computer.  Sad
