Yes, normally Edits are just as bad. However, a sufficiently modified edit reaches the realm of custom (though it never gets there so long as people can tell it's an edit). I do advise doing customs if you can help it.
Remember, read the rules, follow them, and don't pick fights and you'll be just fine here.
