Soldiers from Metal Gear Ghost Babel - Jandy - 10-22-2014

I couldn't find a rip of these guys, so here's one.  It's not quite complete but it's not far off.

Each animation loop is pretty much aligned I think (at 16 pixels apart except for the left and right unconscious animations which are 32 apart)

I don't really know how it works getting these submitted to the actual resource page, but this guy is absent from there.

Great work so far!

BTW, submitting your sprites is as easy as 1-2-3!

Step 1: Go to The Spriters Resource.
Step 2: Click on "Game Boy" on the left side of the page, go to the letter M, and scroll down until you find Ghost Babel.
Step 3: Click on the "Add New Sheet" button at the top of the page.

Looks pretty good, just a couple of things I should mention:
  • There seems to be a stray sprite (bullet?) to the left of the text "hitting". Should be removed.
  • The "looking around" sprites are a bit close to the "running" ones. Don't be afraid to space things out if it makes them look nicer.
  • The stars for the "KO" sprite when facing upwards is extremely close to the text, and if someone were to select that frame using a rectangle tool (which you should assume) it would overlap on the text. Again, spacing is good so that you don't have things squished together.
  • If the sprites for walking left/right are identical flipped versions of each other, you can remove one of them. It's not necessary (and it'll get accepted either way), but it does shrink the sheet's size so you can if you like.
That's all I can see, otherwise very well ripped!

To submit, go to the game's page and click on the "Add New Sheet" icon next to the game icon. An icon isn't completely necessary, but if you don't submit one then the staff will have to make one for you, which usually means it'll take longer to get approved. Info on how to make an icon can be found on the wiki.

Thanks! Yeah its a bit of a rough sheet, I just wanted to get something uploaded. I was going to just lose the stars altogether as honestly I don't want to go back and try ripping them when the character is static during unconsciousness. Much to my delight as a ripper (and to my dismay as a pixel artist :p ) left/right facing images are mostly mirrors, though I'd like to leave them in just for convenience. That's all great and constructive feedback, I'll tidy up the layout/spacing before I try submitting to the site. An icon would be no problem to do either.

Cheers!
