RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 07-13-2016

Ah! I see what you mean! Hopefully, this new version of the teeth should work. I know I didn't add any spacing, but I feel like they're just a bit creepy for my taste (and DarkGrievous7145 agrees with me on this one).

Say, got any ideas on how to spice up the art direction of this project, or is it perfectly fine as it is?

looking better

RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 07-14-2016

Great news! SuperArthurBros. came back on me regarding the feet, so I now have a better idea of what I'm doing. I just need to ask him a few more questions before I really move on.

So, besides that, I also gave Peach a few textures and worked a little on her eyes.

RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 07-17-2016

At last! I almost created a complete set of Mario feet! Once I work out the final details, I'll get to work on a similar set for the Goombas.

Besides at least attempting to locate any notable flaws, I'm wondering if I need to create at least one more foot pose for this entire set. What do you think?

RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 07-18-2016

I was asked a question over on Starman.net by irp1993 regarding how to deal with the feet when Mario is pounding the ground. As a result, they're included in this preview of Peach.

How's everything coming along?

RE: Paper Mario animations - DarkGrievous7145 - 07-20-2016

hard to make a judgement on those lashes without seeing an actual example
on second hand, at this angle, at least, i like peach's face/head as-is (well, aside from needing completion...lol)

tbh, i'm having a hard time adjusting to the new art style
i guess i'm just not a fan of that polygonized look in nearly anything.
(Ironically, I wanna try it, myself)
I'm kinda warming-up to it, though.
I been needing to say that for a while.
It's been deadlocking me in making some judgments, because tbh, some of the new stuff I really just don't like, and it is the style, alone, that's doing it.
I've said nothing till now cuz not wanting to discourage you.
I still look forward to seeing the finished product, so good luck!

RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 07-20-2016

Hey, DarkGrievous, don't feel bad. There was nothing wrong with that opinion you gave me.

I'm going to be honest here, but I'm not that big on the new art direction either. Like I mentioned before, what I miss about the old one is the challenge it provided. That way, I was practicing my digital painting skills and flexing my judgement in order to place the shading in most effective spots possible. The only reasons why I made the characters so angular are that it's a homage to how I used to "draw" in Adobe Illustrator and a last-ditch effort to prevent the characters from looking too much like how they do in Color Splash (as in just their normal sprites without any shading on them). If you or anyone else has any suggestions on spicing up the art direction, then I'm at least listening.

I actually do have some ideas, but too busy atm... so i'll relay them later

RE: Paper Mario animations - Valo - 07-20-2016

I cant help but feel mario's head is situated a bit too far back in that pose.

On second thought, who am I kidding?
They're probably awful, anyways.
Maybe they're even a rip-off of another known style, and just shouldn't be used.

gl with the project, i guess...IDK anymore

RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 07-22-2016

Hey, buddy, don't beat yourself. Even though I doubt that you'll actually read this since you're banned, there's no harm in suggesting ideas. Regardless of the quality or originality, it at least brings new ideas to the table and give me the chance to try something new with the art direction. Besides, even if I don't make this clear enough, I encourage civil discussion about this project and I'm always listening to new ideas that could potentially improve it. Also, it'll please you to know that I honestly don't see you as a terrible person. Sure, you make mountains out of molehills and are a victim to stress overloads, but I still think your whole situation could have been handled a whole lot better.

So, moving on with the project, I made a few more changes. Not only are the shoes textured and I made a new hand pose, but I also shifted Mario's head a little to the left. Is that good enough, Valo?

RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 07-23-2016

I made just a little more progress recently. While I originally didn't plan on going back to Mario until I dealt with my Goomba, some mates on MFGG (including SuperArthurBros.) informed me that the fingers are a bit too long and thin. I wonder if this is what they had in mind.

RE: Paper Mario animations - Hiynastrike - 07-23-2016

I think the fingers are find and goomba shoe C

RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 07-24-2016

Two people have already chosen foot B and you're recently joined by SuperArthurBros. in regards to foot C. As a result, there's a bit of a tie with both options.
(EDIT: Q-Nova picked foot C, so I feel like that's going to be the final option.)

By the way, I finished some new progress a bit ago. I would have posted it sooner, but I was unable to access the VG Resource.

Regarding the bandana, SuperArthurBros. likes the left variation better. Still, you're free to choose the other one if it looks better.

By the way, the new character I'm working on isn't a Koopa. Instead, he's a character from the DKUComix over on DK Vine. I'm sure Koopaul will recognize him right away.

RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 07-25-2016

Chaoxys gave me some odd advice, which is making the Koopa Bros. mask pop off the side of the actual head. He explains that it makes it look like it's over the eyes instead of looking like it's fused to the head; however, I don't know what he means by "popping off the side of the head." Hopefully, he'll explain that when he replies to my MFGG thread again.
