Game challenges you like to impose on yourself - E-Man - 10-07-2014

Play video games are fun and all, but have you ever tried any challenges for them? I don't just mean the challenges the game makes you do. I'm actually talking about the challenges gamers place on themselves, such as a three heart run in a Zelda game. Ever tried a similar challenge before?

For me, I'm actually in the middle of a challenge I created for Banjo-Tooie.

Basically, all you have to do is not only avoid breaking any Beehives, but also you're not allowed to get spotted by any Evil Beehives or Minjos. Ice Eggs are allowed, but you're only allowed to kill Minjos. Also, bonus points for not getting caught by any other similar enemies, such as the Tin-Tops (the ones you are forced to fight do not count).

Believe me, this challenge is a lot harder than it sounds. A lot of the Evil Beehives and Minjos are placed in a lot of areas you are forced to pass and if you don't have Kazooie with with you, you're going to need to work fast and hug walls.

I've been slowly working through an Ike-only run of Path of Radiance for the past few years. I mean, I only pick it up every six months or so and complete a chapter, so I'm not very far at all, but it's a pretty fun challenge so far. I think I was level 20 by chapter six or seven... Been stuck on the same chapter for a while now because I was careless with my Vulneraries.

I sometimes speedrun Super Mario Bros. 2, if that counts.

Collect everything in DK64. Everything. Even the stuff not required to get 101%. This includes every banana and Banana Coin.

I did it. Once.

There's a 101st banana for Diddy Kong in the level with the coal mine if you glitch through a certain location and get outside of the map. To my knowledge it hasn't been recorded on video, but it's something my friend and I used to do quite frequently as kids. It actually counts towards your total.

I almost managed to achieve collecting everything in that game at least three times in my life. Collecting the bananas are easy since I know how many I have left to get, but the coins are nearly impossible to completely find.

Well with IIDX I'd like to full combo AAA every song in the game.

It's gonna be difficult but it's not nearly impossible.

I strive to be the best.

No damage taken boss runs, if possible. Bonus points for the games that actually reward you for doing so, like Castlevania: Order of Ecclessia with the boss medals.

Been trying beat 100 or more Microgames in the main Warioware games' (GCN, Twisted, Touched and Smooth Moves) Normal Microgame Towers. So far I've only managed to get 74 in Twisted, which my highest in any game(The other scores are around 50-60).

I also tried beating the New Super Mario Bros while holding the system upside-down, but that got boring.

I once did a badge only upgrade run for Paper Mario 2 with only 2 upgrades in fp and 1 in HP for necessary.

Needless to say I beat the game.

Ah yes, low HP/FP runs of Paper Mario 1 and 2 are mighty fun. I prefer to do PM1 mostly because of leveling being capped lower than in PM2.

Nuzlocke, Mega Man buster only run, uh thats it for me

RE: Game challenges you like to impose on yourself - SchAlternate - 10-10-2014

i always try to get a 100% on any game on the first try.

Expect me to go to every possible corner, talk to every NPC, use all the items and such when playing a game. And watch me take a freaking eternity to finish one game.

Though it's not really the spirit of things, I usally do hard mode first on a game when it's a genre I'm really into. I did Bravely Default and Hyrule Warriors on hard first.

I've also done things like No Abilities in a Kirby game, or no armor parts or power ups in Mega Man games.
