RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Helmo - 06-23-2015

So am I the only one excited for the new South Park game?

RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - TomGuycott - 06-24-2015

I haven't played Stick of Truth yet, but I've really wanted to based on what little I've seen of it. If the game has that same kind of polish, I could see myself wanting to get the new one, too.

Stick of Truth was awesome, a bit short but an awesome play. Definitely anticipating the new one.

I don't know if I'd call it "polished" it's got tons of glitches, though none of them are game breaking. More like the characters might randomly double in size while exploring the overworld type stuff.

The gameplay and humor are  great though, YOU REALLY FEEL like you're in an episode. No other game has made me feel so "immersed" in that way.

I didn't really mean the polished gameplay, more how it feels like it is exactly like the show in so many ways. I think I'll love it when I finally get around to playing it.

Looks like Atlus hasn't been a good influence on Intelligent Systems. Time to break those two up.

still awaiting the fire emblem fates thread just to see the posts heheheh

RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - TomGuycott - 06-25-2015

I personally don't care that they are adding easier modes to Fire Emblem. Just don't play them. I'm proud to say I never once went to Casual mode on Awakening... I just soft reset like 1000 times.

That weird touchy feely mode, though... I feel like Fire Emblem in Japan has always been a bit racier than they make it appear in the west, but this just takes the cake. Maybe they will just swap it with the Pokemon version of it and hope nobody notices random Pokemon in Fire Emblem.

I used to think the way it handles permadeath forced players to live with the consequences of their decisions
but now I think that, in many (maybe even most) cases, it makes every single unit loss a reset condition, so players will just reset when they lose someone; who the heck even plays like "welp lost a unit guess I'll just keep going through the game without them"?

I enjoyed playing awakening with casual mode, since I could play levels wherein my units were hilariously underleveled (meaning precise tactics becomes incredibly important) and continuing through the level when my units started dying, basically ACTUALLY living with the consequences, even if only in the short term (of course, you do still sacrifice gaining experience with those units)

I now believe that, in order to have permadeath that really has meaning, it must be enforced
through xcom-style ironman mode (aka saving after every single turn without any possibility for scumming)
(and, in the case of fire emblem, it would then need to be extra balanced since the number of units one can actually have over the course of the game is limited(except for in FE11 where you could recruit generics if too many people died))

phoenix mode however, is really just white tanooki suit lol I can't really defend that
and fire emblem amie... well, I'm not really expecting to use it, and it is kind of an odd thing to add at this point ("oops we actually made a vita game")
but maybe.......

overall though, I'm fsjal for fate/emblem

I kinda get the vibe that some people are thinking [Image: aa6.jpg] in regards to Fire Emblem. I won't necessarily agree of disagree, and though I find the outfits and all this pokey stuff a little much, I think its nice to see Fire Emblem doing well.
