You how Nintendo had a bunch of great games on the Wii but no one remembers? I wonder if the same thing will happen for the Wii U.

RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Kriven - 11-18-2014

It looks like Nintendo is doing all they can to make their games really stand out this generation... I feel like the Wii U legacy is going to be as fondly remembered, if as niche, as the GameCube.

RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Koopaul - 11-18-2014

I still feel bad for many of the wonderful games on the Wii that no one remembers. I once made a topic on these forums about your top ten Wii games. People struggled to name five.
What?!
"My Wii is just sitting there collecting dust."
What?!
"All it had was shovelware."
What?!

RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Kriven - 11-18-2014

Hmm... well, haha, I don't remember that thread at all, but here's what I can think of, in no order:

Super Mario Galaxy 2
No More Heroes
No More Heroes 2
Klonoa
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk
Cursed Mountain
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Pokemon Rumble
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom (although I'm not very good...)

Notable mention to Dewy's Adventure, which I haven't beaten yet.

RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Jermungandr - 11-18-2014

I think I could easily name ten off the top of my head ... let's see ... in no particular order:

Super Smash Bros Brawl
Okami
Kirby Epic Yarn
Kirby Return to Dream Land
Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2
Mad World
Metroid Prime 3
Crystal Chronicles Crystal Bearers
Donkey Kong Country Returns
A Boy and His Blob

That's just some games I liked off the top of my head. I'm sure I could name quite a few more if I actually looked at my shelf.

This is exactly what I've been telling people. Wii U is the Gamecube of our adulthoods. It has all kinds of quirky titles, fresh new spins on old favorites, M-rated games that Nintendo has actually published, a unique controller, and so on.

I'm not trying to sound like a Nintendo fanboy/fangirl, but ten years from now, I predict most people looking back on Wii U and realizing how great a system it was, and then looking back on PS4 and XO to realize how boring and generic their game selections were, aside from a few games here and there.

It's also worth noting that the Wii U is also a transitional console for Nintendo graphics-wise, just like... the Gamecube. First console in HD and all that.

Here's to seeing good stuff in Year 3.

RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Vipershark - 11-18-2014

How was the Gamecube transitional?

RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Kriven - 11-19-2014

I can't speak for anybody else, but I've always viewed the GameCube as transitional not in terms of graphics (I mean, they were stepped up, for sure, but still SD) but in a lot of other ways for Nintendo specifically. It was their first disc-based console, it was the first time Nintendo really went at it with having voiceworked cutscenes for their games, and it was about the time that plot became a more pivotal element in their titles. I'm not saying these things didn't exist prior to the GameCube, but the GameCube was when Nintendo really began to embrace the concepts.

GameCube was Nintendo hitting puberty, I guess?
Now they're graduating from college.

I was looking through my old Wii games and lament the fact that very few people got to experience Little King's Story. What a charming and fun game! I love how all the music in the game is actual classical music remixed.

RE: GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!) - Jermungandr - 11-19-2014

If by "classical" you mean "public domain because this game had a really small budget" then sure.

Not that I'm chastising the game at all. I actually do own this game and I agree that it's a really good game. You do have to play into it quite a bit before it starts getting really good though.

I actually haven't played the whole thing because I accidentally deleted my save file (the game doesn't ask you to confirm delete, it just does it, which is kind of frustrating) but I've been meaning to go back to it.

My favorite part out of what I did play was this though:
