I'd expect more like, lots and lots and lots of Mii Fighter costume DLC bundles rather than character DLC bundles. Blank

it'd be nice, yeah, but

i honestly dont see why people are taking this one with a grain of salt. multiple 3ds hackers got the same results within the update. roy and ryu are definitely going to be dlc because of that. theres no other reason why their music (especially ryu's) would be within the recent update.

i have all my faith in this one. if it turns out to be fake anyways, then ill be damned. Embarassed

Because hopes are brought down harder when they are built up too high, too early. People build belief walls to potentially avoid the heartbreak of fake or misleading leaks. ; __ ;

I think I'm starting to warm up to this leak, fake or real, honestly I was hoping it was fake, but I'm starting to accept it slowly, besides, I'm sure it doesn't mean anything bad for the ballot

I'm still skeptical and think it's fake though.

We're already done, Iceman, you can't toy with my heart anymore.

It's not so much that the leakers findings should be taken with a grain of salt, because it's very clear that the stuff exists at this point, but when I say to take the situation with a grain of salt, I mean that there's always, ALWAYS a possibility that things might have to be changed, like a sudden change of plans or agreement.

For example, Ryu might have been slated, but perhaps something falls through before he is officially released, and he doesn't get it. Personally, I think it's probably happening.

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|The SaltySuite Resource - Koopaul - 04-17-2015

Someone wrote this on another forum and I loved it so much I had to share it...

Quote:Roy's shittiness is obvious; There's already two Marths, Roy was an inferior Marth to begin with, he's had only one major appearance in his series, that game was one of the worst in the series, he himself was one of the worst characters in the series, etc. Roy is there as a Smash Bros character more than a Fire Emblem character, and I don't understand where even his Smash Bros popularity comes from. This is why I hate the King Maker aspect of Smash Bros... if Smash wanted to pick nobodies but cycle them out when something more relevant comes around, that's fine (Roy->Ike, Young Link->Toon Link), but that doesn't happen. Instead, anybody who sets foot in Smash becomes something much bigger than themselves and refuses to ever fade into obscurity. It doesn't matter if they were terrible in the game either, as the Roy and Pichu polling in Japan shows us. I want cycling cast members in the Smash series; I think Sheik should've been replaced by Impa, the Fire Emblem cast should frequently cycle, and obvious the Pokemon too. But for whatever reason, a lot of people don't want anyone who sets foot in Smash Bros to ever leave.

Continued...

Quote:And ANOTHER THING I HATE. The Smash fandom is so fucking reactionary. When something is rumored or leaked or just assumed, people then all of a sudden advocate for it. There wasn't ANYBODY asking for Ryu before this leak, and now he has fans and advocates! The same thing happens every fucking time. The Gematsu leak CREATED fan demand for Chorus Kids out of thin air. Fan demand for Palutena increased because everyone expected her out of Sakurai's Uprising involvement. WHY do people rally behind what is expected? It creates this weird feedback loop of people supporting a character for disingenuous reasons and then creating the demand that justifies a character's inclusion in the game.

Ah its good to hear other people as pissed off so eloquently as I am.

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|The SaltySuite Resource - Ark Kuvis - 04-17-2015

Let it be known that I wanted Ryu in Smash Bros. since before Mega Man's inclusion. I just didn't expect we'd get two 3rd Parties from the same franchise. I think a lot of people though that, too. Ryu's literally as big of a star as any of the 3rd Party characters in Smash Bros. currently, from one of the most iconic video games of all time. I mean, we're not talking about SCORPION or FULGOR, or fucking KAZUYA from Tekken here. Street Fighter 2 is literally the beginning of fighting games. I think Ryu definitely deserves his place in Smash Bros!

And while I usually do agree with you on most points, Koopaul, I tend to differ a little when it comes to Smash Bros. discussion. You aren't huge on Fire Emblem, I totally understand that. But I don't think I've ever seen you talk about Smash 4 positively! I get that too, but weren't you a huge avocate for Pac-Man? Dude Pac-Man is IN this game and he's AWESOME! There are a bunch of really cool characters that I think you overlook because it doesn't fit into your percieved formula of what Smash Bros should be.

the DLC won't end with Roy and Ryu, chances are we'll see a few more NEW characters though the ballot. But honestly, there's nothing stopping you from just NOT buying that character. The beauty of DLC is that you can purchase whatever you'd like. I never ended up buying Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath afterwards in MvC3...mostly because I was terrible at that game but I wasn't invested in those characters either. I probably would've bought another batch but Ultimate Marvel 3 was announced like two days after the first launched lmao

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|The SaltySuite Resource - Iceman404 - 04-17-2015

I quite enjoyed heavier fast falling Marth. If they ported him in, gave him some new attacks and specials here and there, but kept his concept yet fixing his problems, he'll still be my boy Roy. So I legitimately enjoyed Roy in Melee, imagine Marth but with the feel of Fox, bringing the PH1R3! Although he suffered from many problems, I'm unsure how well even his strengths would work in Smash 4. The game has no true combos, and being a fast faller doesn't really mean anything when everyone is generally as air resistant as a parachute.

Any who, that guy is silly. If people knew we could have another 3rd party rep in that area regardless of PacMan, I'm sure Ryu would be getting some vocal screamers. He is literally the beginning of what made fighting games so popular, his iconic design and what it stands for would fit like a glove so easily in Smash. I don't even PLAY Street Fighter and I feel like he has a place in it, its just that I didn't know he would be ALLOWED in it until now.

The more I look at his post, the more I cringe. No way I want characters cycling out left and right. In Smash Bros, a char comes for their iconism, and they don't leave because their playstyle is liked. I don't give two damns about where the character came from, I STILL haven't played an FZero game outside of the SNES one in my entire life and would never want Captain Falcon to leave. I like him as a Smash character, I love the stomp, I love the knees, raptor boost, and especially Falcon punch. He's so fun to PLAY as in every iteration (assuming horribrawl were PM too) that if he had to go for the sake of relevancy I'd be greatly disappointed.

He seems to be missing the point, if FE lord status mattered or his inclusion mattered in terms of relevance then good god. A huge deal of pretty much almost everyone I'm sure has NEVER played Marth's game or still don't know what a Fire Emblem really is, but enjoy playing as him anyways. It was only ever brought to light by both of their inclusions in Smash Bros and now super relevant in the US because of Awakening.

Though this isn't to say I don't hate clones that are uninteresting in both character and playstyle.
Pit to Dark Pit is meaningless, Pichu was a joke character.

Tangent

Also I love Mewtwo so much; double jump NAir out of shield is so flashy Jesus. Something even flashier that you folks can try is: short hop shadowclaw, double jump before touching the ground, and you can follow up with two more shadowclaws. If you're feeling flashy though you can turn that double jump shadowclaw into a doublejump NAir to add some salt to any opponent. The psycat has some really funny edgegaurds too, I call it the Mewlevator; because the hitboxes of NAir suck the opponent into you, you can land it on them and travel downward dragging them along.

The next Metroid game should have like, a clone of Ridley... his name should be Ridley Jr. and he's exactly like Ridley only smaller. Just so he can be in Smash so I don't have to hear it anymore : )

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|The SaltySuite Resource - Iceman404 - 04-17-2015

His clone, Dark Dr. Lavender Gold Ridley Jr. will be a much more viable anyways.

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|The SaltySuite Resource - TomGuycott - 04-17-2015

There's a lot wrong here.

Quote:Roy's shittiness is obvious;
Subjective. The entire sentence this leads into is. Even the fact that there are four Marths, because you don't even know how Roy will play in Smash 4 (Though I do anticipate SOMETHING akin to Melee)

Roy is there as a Smash Bros character more than a Fire Emblem character
What's wrong with that? Smash is a celebration of Nintendo's games; Smash is one of THE most popular Nintendo games. Ever.

I want cycling cast members in the Smash series; I think Sheik should've been replaced by Impa, the Fire Emblem cast should frequently cycle, and obvious the Pokemon too. But for whatever reason, a lot of people don't want anyone who sets foot in Smash Bros to ever leave.
So characters who are really popular should be cycled out for characters that are less popular? I think whoever wrote this doesn't understand or care about any of those three series he wants cycling out.

And ANOTHER THING I HATE. The Smash fandom is so fucking reactionary.
This is true, however, I think what also happens is that the assumption that a new character is going to be included sparks thoughts and dialogues in people, and they realize they want something that they thought they couldn't have before.

Fan demand for Palutena increased because everyone expected her out of Sakurai's Uprising involvement.
My assumption that Palutena would be included is because Uprising was an amazing game with great characterization that revived a 20+ year dead series, a game that I loved SO much it was the driving force behind me buying a 3DS. She was a powerful, funny character in that game, and not having someone after the release of Uprising would have been a waste, especially since Pit's inclusion in Smash sparked the revival of his series in the first place.

Ah its good to hear other people as pissed off so eloquently as I am.

There's nothing eloquent about being pissed off. Smile
