A lot of people say that about my art .3.
dunno if it's a good thing or not. .3.

hi i'm the crit guy

it's both good and bad. here's why, broken down into simple statements:

+ it's a quirky unique style that you don't usually see
- Tim Burton's characters have like no muscle definition, so characters like Cloud (who typically have some decent muscles goin on) end up lookin kinda shrimpy.
= adding muscles, of course, would completely change the Burton aesthetic though (meaning Cloud would have to be drawn even more differently, and his physique would have to change A LOT to suit Burton's myriad of body types - long story short, imagine Batman in Tim Burton style. see?) so you're in a good spot as it is

(I know its not really related to what you're saying seeing as it was an actual person as Batman but I found it kinda funny that you used him as an example, and seeing at I am posting anyway, why not?)

That thought makes me giggle. It's just so silly.
Although, if it WAS like that, it'd probably be twenty times better, imo. Tongue

The part of his palm that connects to the thumb on his fist is too far in the center of his hand at that angle, causing his thumb to come too far in the middle. Have you looked at references for fists?

The other hand pointing to himself doesn't have properly shaped knuckles; again references are super helpful but basically you want to at least make sure that the knuckles are all of similar widths (what is sticking out to me most is how the index knuckle is kind of huge (also flat) compared to the other knuckles.

I would also space his lower legs and feet out just a tad; they're ramming into eachother just a bit unnaturally.

These are just things I see immediately, hope they are clear.

Quick doodle of Namco's Valkyrie, based off of her in-game sprite on the NES version.

Anything I should probably touch up on or consider areas to give more work? Sort of experimenting with what I could do in a cartoonish style on photoshop.
