Vinny (FGDB-style sprite sheet redo) - DecaTilde - 04-26-2014

Well, like I said, I did a redo on the Vinny sprites to make him look more like how he appears on Family Guy, and look at what I have so far...

First, the idle sprite:

Second is the sheet itself (WIP):

Third, the strip of walking sprites:

Fourth, the walking sprite animation:

What do you think about the sprites so far?

His feet need to come off the ground more when they move forward, and his body should bob on both steps.

Walking sprites redone, as requested by Midi.

Compared to Brian's walking sprites, the way Vinny walks looks okay to me.

Special thanks to Sousanator for Brian's sprites.

Are those official sprites or something? I don't think you should be trying to follow a five-frame walk, anyway. It makes one step move slower than the other, along with the uneven bobbing, it looks like he's limping. You should either remove or add a frame so they're even.

Is that better?

RE: Vinny (FGDB-style sprite sheet redo) - Kelvin - 04-26-2014

No, now he's going down on one step and up on the other. The character should be up on the passing pose, when one foot is firmly planted on the ground and the other is moving forward, like frames 2 and 5, while the legs are extended outwards, the character should dip down.

Also, frame 1 has this weird line near his butt that disappears for the rest of the sequence.

Better now? Outside of walking, I'll have more ready in time.

Oh, by the way, while I worked on the extra walking sprite, I made some extra parts for the sheet. Have a look:

His left arm (on our right) becomes shorter as it swings.

I made the left arm longer in the third and fourth frames.

How does it look now? I'm hoping his "Georgette, I'm comin' home" sprites are next.

RE: Vinny (FGDB-style sprite sheet redo) - DecaTilde - 04-28-2014

"Georgette, I'm comin' home." That's his stage left exit line in "Christmas Guy", and here's a section of the sheet with him saying it:

What do you think so far?

RE: Vinny (FGDB-style sprite sheet redo) - Paladin - 04-29-2014

I think it looks good, but could you animate it?

RE: Vinny (FGDB-style sprite sheet redo) - DecaTilde - 04-29-2014

Done.

More to come.

RE: Vinny (FGDB-style sprite sheet redo) - Paladin - 04-29-2014

It's good, the only thing I noticed is that the leg on our right is really thick in the beginning, then shrinks to a regular size when he walks.

RE: Vinny (FGDB-style sprite sheet redo) - Kelvin - 04-29-2014

Yeah, I see it too. You should sharpen the angle on the back of his knee. The bobbing works nicely now, though.

On which frame(s)?
