Super Mario Kart - Iceman404 - 05-22-2013

Me and my group of people for our Sonic in Mario Kart fangame/mod have been looking high and low for good Super Mario Kart sounds. We've met misleading downloads to horrible quality recordings, and were wondering if anyone could just rip it straight from the rom for us.

All we need are looping files of the basic engine sounds (standing still) for the four classes:

Bowser/Donkey Kong Jr.

Mario/Luigi

Toad/Koopa

Yoshi/Princess


This would be a HUGE help for us if someone could just do this once and for all. Another plus would be the SMACK sound you hear when players get hurt.

Here you are, all the related samples.

It contains the Idle engine sounds for every class, plus pitch slides for acceleration and deacceleration, and a hit effect.

Well, you should've asked the sampling master B-)

I should finish riping all other sounds to complete it! Let's take advantage of this thread to finish ripping the remaining samples. Make a list of all samples you can think off, and I'll rip them accordingly. I don't know the game as much as you do so you'll be a great help finding all them Smile

ZSNES. I recorded wavs of gameplay with some of the channels muted. I probably could use SPCtool to rip the samples in vanilla form, but some of the effects are actually sequenced (such as car crash samples) and can't be ripped as such.

I figure some effects could be straight ripped from the SPC file, which would be really handy.

Well, I'm not at home atm, on my Android.
What I can think of from the top of my head:

5th place and lower Poof after finishing.
When GAME OVER sign falls down and bounces a bit.

Menu highlighting
When an option is selected
Hopping
Driving on dirt
Drifting regular
Drifting on ghost planks
Drifting on castle bricks

Firing an item
Two items colliding
The raw BAM sound
The raw spinout sound
The raw dizzy after hit sound
CPU getting hit

X -Bowser/Donkey Kong Jr. Engines
X -Mario/Luigi Engines
X -Toad/Koopa Engines
X -Yoshi/Princess Engines

Bowser passing a player
Donkey Kong Jr passing a player
Mario, Luigi, Princess, Toad, and Koopa passing a player

You can cheat to disable music by getting player two to spam the pause button extremely fast over and over. Do it quick enough consecutively and the music will miss its chance to resume.
