RE: TSRpg - Virtuaboy123 - 05-05-2013

it is a reference to both starman.
The EB one and the nes one.

@Ryan
Try looking at the Dqm spriters or download the Zok Zok hero's rom and play it .
That's not how I pictured the sides to be.

That'd be my ref, Atreyu. (At least, he looks similar...)

They will be in the game though they might not be playable they will appear.
I don't know much about some people on the site and I wouldn't want to have their character appear and it be nothing like them. That's why I asked for a little detail about their refs.
So far
Tellis, Baegal, Blue Blur, and Schalternate have given me an idea of what there ref's would be like.(personality/back story/weaponchoice)

The others I'm just kinda connecting the dots on.

How are these?

RE: TSRpg - Sengir - 05-05-2013

if i made the sprites for it could Sengirbug be the RPG gating mechanism?

like with Pokemon you need HMs to get past certain obstacles, sengirbug would be a party member who can switch out his horns (like how Gors made a screwdriver horn and hammer horn) to get past certain obstacles. horns could drop from bosses the player already has to kill or something

(or instead of preventing the player from progressing maybe he just unlocks hidden spots with cool loot?)

RE: TSRpg - Baegal - 05-05-2013

Okay, well if you need info, here's my character profile you could say:

My character doesn't have an official name. I've considered Oksford (octopus), but something about it doesn't seem to fit :U
You can use Baegal if you want, but I do want to find some name for him. (Oks? Okko? I like the O and K. Hmmmmmmm)

Anyway, personality wise, he's sort of a nervous goofball.
Trollerskates made some comics a while back (here and here) that I feel kind of fit the personality, aside from maybe the self-deprecating part. I definitely see him being kind of worrisome all of the time.
He's intelligent if he really needs to be, but lacks common sense, sense of direction, and the ability to not piss people off.
I'd imagine him as the sort of useless worrywart for most of the adventure, and then proving really useful regarding some sort of puzzle solving, mechanical genius, or having just the right item. If anyone's read Problem Sleuth before, he reminds me of Pickle Inspector, especially regarding this part and this one.
I don't have really any backstory at all :I

In terms of speaking, I'm not sure. I feel he'd speak kind of like Trollerskates did it, MAYBE. He interjects "GUH" or "G-GUH" akin to Velma's "JINKIES" (but maybe not as much).

Battlewise, he fights like Jeff in Earthbound or Duster in M3.
(As in, having kind of weak attack and magic, but being able to use a bunch of items to fight)
Items used can be anything, really, but I have some examples from my TFR sheet (mannerisms and such are also shown here)
My favorite weapons would be Balloon, Frying Pan, Watermelon, Cardboard cutout, duck, Pencil Rocket

EDIT--what if he was one of the few characters who had different options for items? As in, Gors/Previous/anyone really only as the "Eat" or "Toss" option for Watermelon, but I could have other options in battle like "Throw", "Split" (if it heals 10hp, you'd now have two watermelons that heal 5hp), and "Shield", and even some goofy options like "spit" (seeds) or "Sniff" (akin to Jeff's rulers/other useless items).

Hmm, stat wise, I'd say something like (based off of 5 *s):

HP ***
Attack **
Defense **
Speed ****
Magic *
but maybe have a larger inventory?

As for how he fits in the game, I have no idea what you have in mind, so I'll leave that up to you ^^

TL;DR: nervous goofball who is smart but silly and lacking common sense. Item heavy, like Jeff in EB. interjects "GUH" akin to a "JINKIES" or "YOWCH"

North/South Walking (Test)

[Image: 87rs2ED.png]

I tried looking a bit closer at the DWM 2 sprites.

I don't know if there are supposed to be 2 frames like in typical Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior or are you going for 3 frames for the characters in the game engine used?

RE: TSRpg - Garamonde - 05-05-2013

@Baegal: yes I would love for there to be an "eat" option ehehehe

H-hey, are you trying to put me into a different category than Mighty Jetters is in?
Not fair, dude. Not fair.

RE: TSRpg - Kami - 05-06-2013

I had a sudden urge to make some enemies, which surprising are kinda related to me otaku-ness(also these are the ones that I finished I have like 5-6 more that are wips, which they are more 'otaku' than these)
[Image: Jjw1xeK.png]
White Rice, Raging Riceball,
Frosty-Mint, PeperMint Power

(Whoo for random 2AM spriting stuffs)

Good except I think I'm redoing the Mugshots so that they are bigger.

@Baegal
Good stuff!
I'll have to see if I can change the system for one character.
If not I'll give him an ability that's called eat. And maybe give split a "chance" type function, meaning it could work or could fail.

@Sengineer
I always thought it was multiple bugs with different head pieces. I should be able to that with various switches, however.

@Kami
These look good, We need more Meduim/Large characters so fell free to submit more.

I'm thinking one of the major cities will be heavily anime/Otaku/Tokyo based while the other one will be like the capitol(Probably New York City-esque) of the island.
I'll have the island map posted up by tonite.
