They aren't remaking the game. DId you see the breakdown $ for $? Do you personally know how much it costs to add extra characters to a dev companies game that was fired after their semi-successful launch? Lab Zero isn't starting from scratch on the game they're trying to give a game they were booted FROM.

The fact that we're even discussing ethics or why they should be doing this is boggling my mind.

I personally know that QA testing doesn't cost even half of 20k. Every time I've QA tested (for a whole game, not a single character) I (and a couple hundred others) was given a voucher for a free pizza, $5 starbuck gift card or something of the sort. They're either having several thousand people paid to QA test or "saving" a couple thousand to QA it themselves.

They're even outsourcing hitboxes for a single character because that's too much work to do themselves? They're implementing (re-implementing?) audio (The voice acting is a separate category; they want someone to either implement an audio system or literally put the voice samples in-game, take your pick) . Either they're really really incompetent or they're asking for more money than they intend to use. It's... not like it's rocket science to figure that out...

I thought talking about ethics or why developers should be doing something is what we do? Or does Lab Zero have some kind of special shield that EA or Nintendo don't?

Considering all the balancing and fixing it takes to make "just one character" in a fighting game, I wouldn't be surprised if they had to hire a bunch of professional players to do their testing. I really have no idea, but I doubt anyone else here has a good enough idea to call judgment either. Fighting game characters are not remotely the same as characters in any other type of game. Fighting game characters ARE the game. Also, considering the nature of fighting games, I can't say that animation budget surprises me either.

If anything I think it's great that they're being so clear and open about what they're using the money for.
That picture's kinda gross though.

Delver's Drop
This looks cute

Project Awakened

This needs your support. The game has three days remaining and it still hasn't reached its goal!

Yeah, I heard about if from one of the people that's working on it, if any of you people remember DJVenom, that be him.
The game looks pretty adorable, I honestly haven't checked out any of the vidoes the developers released yet.

RE: The Kickstarter/IndieGoGo Thread - Phantom Killah - 03-03-2013

Oh cool, I remember DJVenom (vaguely).
The game looks fun

RE: The Kickstarter/IndieGoGo Thread - Gwen - 03-03-2013

He's also on the team for the cryamore game up in an earlier post. Also very worth checking out

Isn't Shinji Mikami already making something like this? I believe it's called Devils Third my good man. I'll be honest though this game looks fun.

I Found a Game that reminds me of the classic Nes sidescrollers Shovel Knight Smile

if it does get funded it will be on the PC 3DS and the Wii U ^^

RE: The Kickstarter/IndieGoGo Thread - SonicWind - 05-21-2013

Cymbil Spellcraft

This is a Secret of Mana-inspired 3D Action RPG with co-op multiplayer, interactive and destructible environments, and even an in-game editor that allows you to make your own ARPG adventures, either within the game's world or yours.

The game's only raised about 1% of its $80,000 goal, and the developer is having trouble advertising it. It needs some help if it wants to reach its goal.

RE: The Kickstarter/IndieGoGo Thread - puggsoy - 05-28-2013

Armikrog.

A new claymation point-and-click adventure game by Doug TenNapel and most other guys who made The Neverhood, Terry S. Taylor's even doing the music again. The video looks fantastic and if I can I will totally pledge at least $25.

Even if they don't get their goal of $900,000 (a bit much?), I really hope this gets done. The Neverhood was a great game and a modern-day spiritual successor would be more than awesome.

RE: The Kickstarter/IndieGoGo Thread - senjen - 05-29-2013

Found a really cool Kickstarter that was inspired by games such as Banjo-Kazooie, and and many other Nintendo based games

A Hat in Time (literally made me cry when i watched their video the game looks great)

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jonaskaerlev/a-hat-in-time-3d-collect-a-thon-platformer

If It does get the funding they are hoping to get it put onto Steam and Possibly the Wii U as well.

RE: The Kickstarter/IndieGoGo Thread - Marth - 05-29-2013
