Animating certain types of sprites? - Uikri - 12-21-2012

How would I go about animating sprites such as this, which is multipart, or this, in which case I have no idea how to place each layer so that the animation is displayed correctly (i.e. not moving all over the place)?

Trial and Error, I'd assume. For the multipart one, you'd place the pieces together in a way that looks right, for the animations, you'd put them in order and move them around (many animation programs offer frame position offsets) until it animates smoothly.
I'm afraid that's how it would be done as there are no frame position markers or boxes or anything.

Oh wow. So it's all manual, eh?

Pretty much that, yes.
Certainly it'd be much better if all sheets had their animations in equally size frame boxes et cetera but on the other side, often enough rippers don't have the necessary information either, especially when ripping from tile data.
