Just letting you all know this is at the bottom so nobody actually thinks this is real.

way to ruin everything, I wish they'd make this

RE: Gaming Lounge - NICKtendo DS - 09-04-2013

I like the concept of the 1DS, but I doubt it'll be useful on its own.

RE: Gaming Lounge - Kriven - 09-04-2013

The 1DS is a cool idea, but it does highlight something I've been wondering about for a while:

Now that we have the Wii U and its gamepad, why do we not have a DS Player?

RE: Gaming Lounge - Vipershark - 09-04-2013

even if that 1DS mockup was real THERE IS STILL NO SECOND ANALOG STICK

RE: Gaming Lounge - Vipershark - 09-04-2013

not if they include alternate control options
the circle pro pad DOES exist, you know
these revisions just mean that they have to make more of them in different sizes and stuff
...when they could just build it in and be done with it
at the very least, they could put like "1DS or Circle Pad Pro Required!!!!" on the box or something

RE: Gaming Lounge - Gors - 09-04-2013

Quote: that would mean scamming off all the early buyers and forcing them to buy a peripherial to cope with it.

aka nope. nope at all

Also what no one seems to understand in both this mockup and the real 2DS is that they aren't supposed to be a better version of a 3DS, it's just a price cut version for people that can't afford a full equipment. They are not meant to be better in any way.

Not to say it's not easy as you think because the circle pad doesn't only add an extra pad, it adds extra shoulder buttons and consumes more energy. Making a price cut version of a hardware with those features is like subtracting 6 and adding half a dozen.

RE: Gaming Lounge - Koh - 09-04-2013

I think people aren't seeing the underlying joke here. XBone's goal was to combine gaming with TV and other services....Nintendo 1DS Joke was to combine the 3DS with the TV and other services.

RE: Gaming Lounge - Gors - 09-04-2013

the difference is that this idea is actually good and without a ton of dumb restrictions like XBox ONE had. If I didn't have a 3DS already, I would get that one

RE: Gaming Lounge - Gwen - 09-04-2013

But Xbox One had pretty much all of those dumb restrictions removed, and the only reason the PS4 didn't have them to begin with is because they waited to see what kind of reception Xbone would get and then acted like the heroes of gaming, when in fact that have extremely similar patents just sitting and waiting.
Yes this is kind of off track, but whatever.

RE: Gaming Lounge - Gors - 09-04-2013

yeah, certainly. That was a great move for Xbox ONE; had they kept with their original plan, no one would even think on buying it

Sony's move was clever, but the fact that they also had the same idea makes me feel kinda like a shit... oh well!

One thing people need to remember is that the system was already designed with those restrictions in mind. What's stopping Microsoft from doing a 180 and putting it all back in place further down the line, with the flick of a switch (software update)? The code for these restrictions isn't going to magically disappear from the systems. They're still there, lying in wait to be used. Once Microsoft decides to do so, everyone who owns the system will be in hot water. After all, I'm sure the agreement people agreed to from the terms of services pretty much hints that the polices may change.

RE: Gaming Lounge - Gwen - 09-04-2013

Because if they did that, people will boycott any future products coming from Microsoft. It'd be them practically shooting themselves in the brain. It'd be business suicide and you could bet your ass they'd go down swift.

Companies are smarter than that, if anything, I bet them and Sony are just going to wait it out until the next generation before they put these restrictions on.

RE: Gaming Lounge - Koh - 09-05-2013

I dunno...I mean they were also dumb enough to try and restrict people like that in the first place, knowing they'd rebel. There's no limit to human stupidity.
