So NoA is now selling used 3DS on their website [Link]
For $130 instead of $170 or what they are, refurbished, cleaned and checked for functionality; also some DSi and bundles.

Oh, so Nintendo pretty much owns Sonic at this point in time.

Some how, I knew nintendo and sega were going to pull this.

RE: Gaming Lounge - Kriven - 05-17-2013

Sooo....

Can we get more Sonic rep in Smash now? Cute

RE: Gaming Lounge - NICKtendo DS - 05-17-2013

I've seen Sonic fans going mad over this. It'd probably kill their pride to own a Nintendo or something. By the way, try explaining Mario & Sonic at the 2014 Winter Olympics for the PS4.
I look forward to what these games have to offer. It's too early for me to jump on the hype-train yet, but I'm keeping an eye out for Sonic Lost Worlds.

RE: Gaming Lounge - DioShiba - 05-17-2013

Honestly this was bound to happen sooner or later.

Initially there were a ton of jokes and predictions that sonic would be bought out by nintendo and to be quite honest it's been moving that way for some time now. I think Sonic has a pretty good home on the Wii U

Speaking of nintendo trying to get IPs I think it would be wise of them to buy some of Rareware's IPs from Microsoft (Like Battletoads, Banjo Kazooie, Conker, and Perfect Dark). It's not like rare is going to make any new games for them soon and if they did I don't think they'll handle them very well.

RE: Gaming Lounge - Kriven - 05-17-2013

I think I read something (in this thread, I think, even) about Nintendo negotiating with Microsoft for the reacquisition of Rare and its IPs.

RE: Gaming Lounge - Mutsukki - 05-17-2013

Rare doesn't have any of their relevant staff there anymore though. So they would be basically acquiring a dead company that has only their name left.

It's the intellectual property they're after, not the development staff. Banjo's IP rights are arguably more valuable than the development studio.

Indeed, and if the development studio doesn't want to bother using the IPs then it's really better off in the hands of another development studio.

Plus, some of Rare's former key staff are now a part of Retro Studios if I'm not mistaken. So if Nintendo decides to buy the Banjo IP (and possibly others like Conker and Battle Toads, you never know) then it's really going to a good home.

RE: Gaming Lounge - Kriven - 05-19-2013

I'd love it if Nintendo started buying up some of the older IPs which haven't been seen in a decade or two and have some potential to come back, especially in Nintendo flair.

Like Croc. Whatever happened to that guy?

Xbox One, also known as a DVR

RE: Gaming Lounge - Vic - 05-22-2013

Short summary of yesterdays reveal for those who missed it.

RE: Gaming Lounge - Gwen - 05-22-2013

I'll wait until E3 for when they reveal their new IPs before jumping on the hate train. Honestly liking the Xbox One so far.. *shrug*

RE: Gaming Lounge - Koopaul - 05-24-2013

I can't wait after E3 when everyone shouts "Nintendo is back!" I'll shake my head and snicker, "When did they ever leave?"

And when Nintendo hits another dry spell, everyone will say "Nintendo is dead! They should go third-party!" I'll shake my head and sigh, "How quickly they forget."

I've just accepted that people are kind of stupid. Doomed to praise then bash, then praise then bash, then praise then bash. Am I the only one who sees this pattern?

RE: Gaming Lounge - Kriven - 05-24-2013

Just because Nintendo is offering the best console doesn't mean they're offering anything good.

I haven't seen any reason to buy any of the new consoles other than a 3DS, and I'm still very dissatisfied with the way Nintendo has chosen to handle their digital distribution and backwards compatibility.
