Game Boy Tile Ripping Help - Gaia - 02-20-2012

Hey 'yall, I'd like to make these into usable tiles for the background. How do I pull this off? (considering the only colors for this game is black and white)

I'm looking into ripping Game Boy sprites, considering there's a LOT of sprites out there.

Some ROMs can be opened up in Tile Molester or yy-chr and the graphics can be used from there. Depending on the emulator (I use VisualBoyAdvance so you would need to decompress the state, basically add .gz to it and extract with WinRAR or something), you can open the savestate and with the VRAM. Unless you are asking something else.

Ah, good to know, as sometimes ripping something that's black and white can be tricky at best.

Another method:

1. Take one of your screenshots and open it in a graphics editor with grid support (i am using Paint Shop Pro X).
2. Set up a grid, size: 16x16 pixel
3. Adjust the image until the tiles fit perfectly into the grid.
4. Select all the unique tiles and copy them to a new file.
