I loved the art direction the game was taking, it was the perfect mix of cartoony Team Fortress and realism.

I to pre-ordered the game, something I try not to do after being let down so hard by Brink.

my favorite game composers:

Hitoshi Sakimoto:

(as a sidenote, I'd like to say that I also think the sound engineers for ogre battle 64 did a great job of using the technology of the n64 to their advantage; it has a very "rich" and "full" feeling to it that I think is perhaps unrivaled amongst n64 OSTs)

Koichi Sugiyama:

(strangely, I kind of like this better in its NES form than the symphonic form)

Masafumi Takada:

Motoaki Takenouchi:

Masahiko Yoshimura:

Jun Chikuma:

(man the drum samples in this sound crazy good for a SNES game)

Hideki Okugawa:

Bomberman Hero's soundtrack went for something more... drum and bass, which is good but not as classic as the Super Bomberman tracks.

In fact, Super Bomberman's music were just remixed tracks from TG-16 Bomberman games. Give it a listen:

I like Jun Chikuma's affinity to middle eastern/asiatic music, it's somewhat mystic and catchy as hell.

I also love NON and Nazo Nazo Suzuki's music. They compose for Treasure games, which has great soundtracks:

(I suggest checking the games' whole soundtracks. I didn't link to any Mischief Makers one because I am not fond of its music myself)

Finally Masahiro Ikariko. He, along with others, are responsible for a lot of old Konami game music:

Couple of all-time favorite tracks in gaming right here. I hope Mass Effect 3 will deliver on more memorable tunes.

Yay for Super Monkey Ball! I think the mini-game music like bowling and billiards have some of the best music in that game.

RE: Favorite VG Music - Garamonde - 02-22-2012

The latter two Monkey Races are my favorites in the game. I was so glad to find the music without the annoying "GO!" voices in the beginning. Big Grin

Oh lawdy. Tell me about it! I had to search long and hard for versions of the music without the "go!" and the sound of the monkey dropping at the start. That was all a few years ago tho, seems that there are many cleaner versions out now.

Is this what you mean? That's an arranged version of the intro music, but the harp in the later half of the song sounds almost exactly like the Relic Forest music for a few notes. I know, that used to weird me out in Pokemon Colosseum as well!
