I found the problem Davy! I was using SNES9x instead of ZSNES. Just one more thing, is there a faster way of doing this? I mean, do I have to make a save for each individual frame? Feels kinda tedious.

RE: Monkeying Around - Davy Jones - 02-08-2012

Shame on all these guys who said that snes9x is also working.
And yes, it's tedious. Especially for DKC games with their amount of frames. When it comes to black backgrounds, I don't know a faster way than vSNES.

But it is very rewarding in exchange, see what I've got here:

Completely assembled back- and foregrounds. Not sure about the jungle, though.

Thanks again, Davy, but is there a way to slow down zsnes? It's kind of annoying having to keep pausing the game until you get the frame you want.

Davias, the butterflies should be on the misc sheet. Also, cranky's bg for dkc2 shakes in the special ending, so a lot of that wasn't ripped right either.

RE: Monkeying Around - A.J. Nitro - 02-08-2012

Ton, I don't know if you know about this, but in DKC3, Barrel Drop Bounce is the only level in the game where you can find a wooden crate that you see a lot of in DKC2. Check the 0:25 mark.

Here's one more bear for the night. To be honest, I'm kinda lazy and don't feel like playing through the whole game just to get all the Bears. Would someone be able to send me a save where I can visit every Bear, plus still be able to get their special animations, (Brash smashing counter, Bluner's spinning bow tie, Boomer pressing button?)

Yes actually! Under "config" and "speed" (I usually put it at "/8")

I love that Barnacle's suit is separate. Tongue

There are no special conditions for Blunder's tie and I doubt that you will find a save for the other two bears.

By the way:
At the select game screen, highlight your game and press L R R L R R L R L R. Then type in one of these codes for the desired effect.

ASAVE - Saves after every level.
COLOR - Makes Dixie purple and Kiddy green.
ERASE - Resets the best time for Riverside Race.
HARDR - Makes the game harder, and if game completed, get 103% completion.
LIVES - Gives you 50 lives.
MERRY - Changes the bonus levels to an x-mas theme.
MUSIC - Music test.
TUFST - Removes all Star Barrels ad DK Barrels, and if completed, get 105% completion.
WATER - When you start, swim to the waterfall on the west of Bazaar's General Store to enter a secret cave, which you can pass a sequence test to get 85 coins.

Don't know if ERASE helps against Brash's record.

For the cannonball:
Quote:To find ammunition for the "Big Bessie" cannon on Mekanos island, you must find the brother bear on K3 mountain. He will tell you to give his friend Blue a package. Then you must deliver the package to Blue in Cotton Top Cove, where he will open it. It is a bowling ball, and Blue says you can keep it. Then take it back to the cannon and Brigadier Bazooka Bear will fire it for you.

RE: Monkeying Around - A.J. Nitro - 02-09-2012

Well I'm not far from Brash anyway, but the only other solution is for someone who's already ahead in the game to get the other bears. Sorry, it's not easy playing on a keyboard. If someone helps out, I may attempt Wrinkly after Brash.

RE: Monkeying Around - Garamonde - 02-09-2012

Oooorrrr you could just to Config > Speed and set up custom hotkeys for "Pause" and "Increase Frame". Wink

Like Jetters said. Then press F2 (Save State) every time you frame advance.
I say every frame because you might accidentally skip a frame. I learnt that while ripping MK fatalities Tongue

RE: Monkeying Around - Davy Jones - 02-09-2012

Got my savestates from here:
http://www.zophar.net/savestates/snes.html

Also got every single back- and foreground from DKC, I will now arrange it and post it in a while. They were incredibly easy with vSNES.

RE: Monkeying Around - A.J. Nitro - 02-09-2012

Man, I'm just full of problems. I downloaded the savestate that Davy provided and now I have no idea how to load the state. So far, it's in the same folder as the rom itself. What do I do from there?

RE: Monkeying Around - Ton - 02-09-2012

Did you rename it to the same exact file name as the ROM? For instance, if it's a file called Donkeykong3.gs1 and your ROM is DKC3.srm, you need to rename the save file to DKC3.gs1.
