Ant, we've become minor celebrities at the DKC Atlas. :p

Nice Big Grin
I'm hoping to have some more updates soon, I've just been a bit busy Tongue

RE: Monkeying Around - Ton - 02-07-2012

Me too. Sick
A guy at DKC Atlas also wanted to help out. He ripped most of Cranky in DKC3 and some misc Dixie stuff.

I'm guessing that aperson98 is at DKC Atlas?

RE: Monkeying Around - Ton - 02-07-2012

He is, and when he realized I'm from here he loaded me up with rips he's done. Tongue They'll be in my next update.

RE: Monkeying Around - A.J. Nitro - 02-07-2012

Bah! I was gonna rip the bears from DKC3 cause some of them on the site were missing a few frames and didn't include every background layer, but the evil black background is the only thing getting in the way. Might need some assistance for that.

RE: Monkeying Around - Ton - 02-07-2012

Drives me crazy. That's what's blocking me from doing Funky and Wrinkly in DKC3 too.

RE: Monkeying Around - Ton - 02-08-2012

I just realized we have none of the parallax scrolling backgrounds for DKC or DKC2 on the site.

RE: Monkeying Around - Davy Jones - 02-08-2012

I can't say it often enough: vSNES

Open it, import the quicksave into vSNES and go to scene viewer (mowgli symbol in the upper task bar). Here you can save the sprite without the black background (it has an extra save function for the png).

I would rip the animation WITH the black background and then use quicksaves + vSNES to replace them. It's very simple, every SNES ripper should use this tool when it comes to difficulties.

By the way: I hate to say it, but I will re-rip the DKC title and game over, it has the same problem with being incomplete like the others (this black line which you get because the emulator fails to show you everything of the screen).

Edit: Since Tonberry mentioned that Funky's bg is bigger than the others, I will check them too.

RE: Monkeying Around - A.J. Nitro - 02-08-2012

Davy, I found vSNES, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to import a Save State into vSNES. I'm clicking the folder icon that says "load a save state", and when I find the folder where the saves are, of course, I get nothing? Think you can tell me what to do word for word?

RE: Monkeying Around - Davy Jones - 02-08-2012

ROM and quicksaves have to be in the same folder. Select the ROM and the saves will show up.

Currently ripping from Donkey Kong Country and noticed a few things:
- Fish in DK's house and the butterflies are unripped
- Ship sprite from the overworld is missing (no idea how many frames)
- Intro is not ripped (Currently doing that)
- Rare symbols from DKC 1 and 2 are not ripped, I guess a zip would be alright?

I'll also play through the whole game and see what backgrounds I can get.

RE: Monkeying Around - A.J. Nitro - 02-08-2012

That's the problem. When I click the folders, it shows them as being empty. Sorry if I'm making this sound harder than it needs to be. Here's a screenshot.

This is mine:

I can send you my version, if you want.

By the way, I noticed that the NPC backgrounds (brighter) and the overworld (darker) have different palettes in comparison to my screen-/vSNES-rips. The title palette is fine, though.
Edit: The stuff from Simion is also fine, just compared one of the boss rooms.

Ya send me a quick Private message and tell me what to do there. Also, off topic: my name is Alex, too! How 'bout that!
