Honestly, I think the newer Sonic games (Like Generations and Colors) have made most of the picky manchildren in that fanbase shut up for once, now that SEGA's focusing more on quality and less on quantity. It still has its whiny fanboys like every other internet community, but the constant, vomit-inducing franchise-bashing has really toned down a lot in the past year, to me. Either that, or the sonic community I lurk around, Sonic Retro, has enough shark weeks to go around for all the whiners.

I second that, personally. Even while I was a HUGE fan of Sonic some years ago, I still played other games, read Marvel comics, and watched television documentaries. Hell if I was going to eat, sleep, and breath Sonic everyday like those dedicated fans!
