Spy in the Mother 3 style - OctobotFire - 12-09-2011

I'm not sure if this will be ok with others but here I go. Embarassed I made the spy in mother 3 style. As you know I'm called Scraggykululu on deviantart and KorytheMaril on youtube and at the time I never was here so that's why the name "Octobotfire" is not credited.

I apologize for the head. I'm kind of lazy at these things Embarassed

Man, nobody's going to respond to this, are they?

No shading, add shading.

RE: Spy in the Mother 3 style - megaMasquerain - 12-11-2011

The Mother3 character sprites have very minimal shading, actually. A little bit on the head might do well though.

Two other things: Are those coattails on the backsprite? Separate them... they'd look a lot more dynamic that way.

Lastly, his head is too small from the side, I think. His skull looks squished! Take a look at Kumatora from the side - that isn't all her hair, a lot of it's her skull.

Are you going to do diagonal ones too?

yeah but theres still shading

It looked really weird to me, too. I wasn't used to spriting back then (and I'm not sure I am now.) The thing is I'm really lazy so I'm not so sure about the diagonal sprites (if you look at him as he is now you'll notice that he's just a re-shading of a random NPC with a custom head.)
I'll try to get it to look more normal once I get the chance. I really appreciate the advice. Thank you.

RE: Spy in the Mother 3 style - Cobalt Blue - 12-13-2011

these looks quite... decent. though mother 3 sprites arent particulary complex(and just as OP said) these are for the most part reshaded with minor details added.

go for the full set and add the diagonal sprites, otherwise there is no much credit to be given for this.

I'll give it a try but I can't promise anything "good"

you're here to be given feedback and some tips on how turning that not so good attempt into quality work you could feel proud of. the harder the goal may seem, the more satisfactory it is to be achieved.
