RE: the release of skyward sword looms closer - Jalopes - 10-02-2011

i should probably post some of those new trailers

this is the japanese trailer, it's very very cool

basic sword swinging stuff. as skeptical as i was about the sword swinging before, i'm actually very curious to try it out. it could make for some extremely interesting combat situations

the aforementioned "romance" between link and zelda is referenced here. miyamoto described the beginning of the game (and maybe the rest, idk) as like a 'school drama,' and you can kind of tell here

So yeah, great stuff.

edit: oh and another quick thing

At about 5:56 of this video you can see the "silent realm" parts, and what unfortunately looks like the tear collecting bullshit from Twilight Princess. It might not be as horrible as TP's though, at least this looks a bit more exciting, and it doesn't involve being a wolf.

I don't see how I'm wrong really- unless you like the games being easier, or if you think that the monoclick system is harder which is just fine if you do
Honestly though, nintendo seems to have got it right in skyward sword judging by the trailers
The new combat looks fast and realist with none of the rubbery boncey nonsense going on. Also the enemy deaths look pretty awesome- with the immediate severing and all.

The sound effects still sound a lot like TP. I miss the sounds from the Wind Waker.

I gotta say the sound of slicing enemies in this game is still better than Twilight Princess but still not as well as Wind Waker. I think they sort of combined the scissors-cutting-through-construction-paper sound from WW with the chopping-at-pumpkins sound in TP.

Yes I am very analytical with sound effects. There's a whole psychology to sounds. Some sounds are rewarding while others sound distressing. Ever wonder why blowing up a ship in Star Fox 64 sounds delightful while getting blown up yourself sound horrible? Try listening to those sounds and you'll notice their is a difference in the pitch and tone of the explosion that had a lot of thought go into it.

I really don't think WW's combat was 'easy' so to say, it sounds to me like you're saying they over simplified it or made the game to easy, which I'd have to disagree with you, WW's presented me with some of my favorite fights, as they're challenging and engaging.

Idk, I'm all for realistic sounds as long as they don't over do it.

besides this isn't really wind waker.

Now it really seems like a fan fiction with a school drama element.

However the younger zelda = awesome, I'm actually rather please with how the design came out rather than it being like TP where her design was flat out creepy and not cartoony enough to be like Wind Waker's Zelda

RE: the release of skyward sword looms closer - Gwen - 10-03-2011

Dear god, I'm gonna have to hype this, this looks like it will be my favorite hands down Surprise

RE: the release of skyward sword looms closer - Woppet* - 10-21-2011

There was a review of Skyward Sword in the UK Official Nintendo Magazine yesterday.
It got 98%, they've only ever gives one other game 98% before and they said it's the best Zelda game ever made.
I can scan it if anyone wants to see it, but the review doesn't reveal anything about the game we didn't already know, so there's no real reason to scan since I already said the score.

RE: the release of skyward sword looms closer - Jalopes - 10-21-2011

I'm not even gonna bother with reviews this time around. I don't trust the same people who said Twilight Princess was a near perfect game to give me a legitimate review on SS.

RE: the release of skyward sword looms closer - Garamonde - 10-21-2011

Well TP was awesome.

Though my cousin pre-ordered SS already with the Triforce Wiimote! Big Grin

RE: the release of skyward sword looms closer - Woppet* - 11-17-2011

Reviving this thread since Skyward Sword releases tomorrow in EU. Only 3 days left for the US too.

Renamed.

Renamed the thread again, because who doesn't get it?

Yeah, I pre-ordered the one with the remote/music cd as well :D

An exceptional deal, for £50.

Also, check out this 3DS.

I want the hell out of that, too.

RE: Dawn of the 3rd day, 72 hours remain - Maxpphire - 11-17-2011

EXCUSE ME WHILE I RAGE THROUGHLY INSIDE FOR NOT WAITING LIKE MY WHOLE BODY WAS TELLING ME TO

AAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGG

(That 3DS is fucking gorgeous.)

RE: Dawn of the 3rd day, 72 hours remain - Kriven - 11-17-2011

I think it's time to get a 3DS in my pants..... pockets.

RE: Dawn of the 3rd day, 72 hours remain - Boo - 11-17-2011

Yeah I really want to play this game, but I already bought MW3 and Skyrim so that's already $130.

There were so many good games out from September - December that I'd waste all my money.. haha.
